From the lengthy list of June 4th new releases, which will you play first?

For me it will be Goldsmith's Sum of All Fears, but I'm biased since I've been buying Goldsmith for almost 40 years (Holly says I'd buy a cd of cat food comercials if Goldsmith had done them)

    What about you?

What else comes out on June 4th?

I'll get Sum of all Fears as soon as I can find it - but I don't know when it comes out in Austria.

Actually, it'll be my DVD player that gets fired up first that day. June 4th FINALLY sees the release of several of Blake Edwards' best movies:

VICTOR/VICTORIA (still the way I like to remember Robert Preston)
    THE GREAT RACE
    S.O.B.
    SKIN DEEP

The Lovely Laura has okayed this one last expenditure prior to the wedding (June 29th), knowing that I'd be pretty blue if I didn't get these right away. Haven't bought much of ANYTHING lately, trying to push the pennies in the direction of wedding and honeymoon expenses.

But afterwards, all bets are off! I have a ton of catching-up to do.

I haven't been buying Goldsmith for 40 years, but Sum of All Fears is it for me too. No other choice, really!

    Bad Company (6/4/2002)
Crappy songs. No thanks. 1 Rabin track. Last I checked, Hollywood Recs offered clips from all tracks except the Rabin cue.

    Blade 2 (score) (6/4/2002)
Marco Beltrami sounds like Marco Beltrami. Seems like all his action/horror scores are the same: 90% noise, 10% great.
I'll stick to his low key stuff: Dina, Water, etc.

    Enough (6/4/2002)
Yes. Literally. Can't imagine this being much different than Arnold's other "urban" scores. Enough with filler music underscores.
But please, do say I'm wrong on this one.

Queen of the Damned (score) (6/4/2002)
Well, I'd like to get this. But it's Warner Bros. And it took them 1 month and a lot of emails and bugging record stores to bug Warner for them to release A.I. in Canada. So imagine the time it will take the Toronto nitwits at Warner Canada to import this one. I'll be 80 and (completely) senile before that happens.

    Scooby Doo (6/4/2002)
    What's this? Crummy songs? Pfff...

    Spiderman (score) (6/4/2002)
    What's this? Crummy score? Pfff...

The Sum of All Fears (6/4/2002)
See comments for "Queen of the Damned"

    Dan
What's the release date on this one?

Out of the scores to be released, the Goldsmith one is the only disc I plan on picking up.

The Sum of All Fears is definitely the first in my CD player. I think this'll be Goldsmith's best in recent years.

Spiderman would be next. I know, this isn't a great score, but hey...it's Elfman.

I will be picking up Spiderman on Tues. I will then lay down and proceed to listen to it non-stop for the next 15 years. Then, on June 4th, 2017 I will buy the Goldsmith- right after I shave my gigantic beard and go to the bathroom.

They didn't leave it- they're always going to be a part of WEA (Warner-Elektra-Atlantic) as long as there is an international contingent for distribution of releases from these companies and theie insipid off-shoots like Warner Sunset (the reason for starting that company was what?). Now- the above is based on the info last heard- if something is changing or has changed (Dan, that's your cue), then I'm obviously going to be mistaken.

But back to topic: Goldsmith fan that I am, it's going to be tough as I have been patient to hear Spider-Man since the film's release. I ordered Sum, Spidey, and Spirit here at the site- so I don't expect these CD's any earlier than Thursday- but I can be patient while I curse snail mail and wonder why we haven't developed teleportation yet.

PostScript: Thanks again to PeterK for the store!

Is it me, or has Dan the Man been a little cynical lately?

Hey, Mark! I can' wait to get my Victor/Victoria DVD! I've been waiting for this one since I heard about its release four months ago! Love this film on every level, and I'm anxious to hear the new sound, see the new transfer and hear the commentary by Blake and Julie.

By the way, does anyone see their marriage as something similar to Mel Brooks and Ann Bancroft? Something just doesn't fit. (even more )

    Hey, Jeffy

VICTOR/VICTORIA is my absolute favorite Blake Edwards film; but what a remarkable run for him, during that period! We got 10, S.O.B., and VICTOR/VICTORIA all right in a row; and they represent my favorite work by him.

Check out the reviews for S.O.B. and VICTOR/VICTORIA at www.dvdfile.com

    Can't wait!
