I'm seriously planning to do a two-disc "Ultimate Soundtrack" for MOULIN ROUGE, by editing and mixing the material from the two soundtrack releases, the Armstrong Promo, and all MR's authentic music (even the tiny song snippets and score cues) taken directly from the DVD.

Tonight as I was listing the stuff of the DVD, I noticed couple of mysterious things for which I hope to get an answer from someone, somewhere.

On the End Credits it says

    1) "Voice of the Green Fairy.....Ozzy Osbourne"

    - VOICE...?!??!! Is this a joke, or have I missed something ?

    2) "Voice of Man in the Moon.....Placido Domingo"

    - YET the first soundtrack album mentions only Alessandro Safina and Jamie Allen... What is going on ??!?!!

    *****

    3) Then, can anyone point out the places for the song "GORECKI" (by Andrew Barlow & Louise Rhodes) performed by Nicole Kidman ? (I've never heard of such song...)

    4) The score includes "GOLDEN BOWLS" written and performed by Richard Karma Moffett, and "TANGUERA" by Marianito Mores. Can anyone point out where they would appear during the movie ?

    5) I'm shamed to say it, but I only p r e s u m e that Kurt Cobain's "SMELLS LIKE TEEN SPIRIT" is contained in "ZIDLER'S RAP". Am I wrong ? AND, can anyone confirm, was Fatboy Slim responsible for the movie mix of "ZIDLER'S RAP" ? (His interview surely gives that impression, but credits don't reveal it).

    ******

MOULIN ROUGE's End Credits are not only the most quickest in their "scrolling up" but also quite irritating when (nearly) the same gang of producers is mentioned on every individual song but arrangers have been left out. A pity for anyone who would be interested of the *real* creative force behind the individual songs and score snippets...

    Waiting to get some answers,
    with BIG thanks in advance
    KEN

I'll answer the ones I know off hand:

    1. Not a joke.

    2. The answer is here. (last question in the interview.)

    4. "Tanguera" is the "Ewan McGregor part" of the "Tango de Roxanne".

    5. Yes, "Smells like Teen Spirit" is in Zidler's Rap. My understanding is that Fatboy Slim was involved in the movie mix.

As for your comment re: credits.... look closer. Everyone who worked on the music and the arrangements got the credit they were owed.

    Thanks, Dan
...though I would really much like to know what "voice" of the Green Fairy Ozzy Osbourne then IS - because isn't it Kylie Minogue singing most of the song ?

"credits.... look closer. Everyone who worked on the music and the arrangements got the credit"

-Well, yes, but NOT in the individual songs list, which is a pity.

    Hey there,
The part where Gorecki comes in is where Nicole Kidman starts singing "if I should die, this very moment...I wouldn't fear. cuz i've never known completeness, like being here." I think its comes right after zidler says she has to end it with christian.

    So, Cassie,
in other words that "song" - those lyrics and music - are GORECKI by Barlow & Rhodes ? Do you know was Armstrong the arranger for this ?

    Thank You.
