I am considering collecting this series (and have been for some time). I went to the Hammer Merchandise web site to find the complete list of their releases but it seems incomplete with gaps in their SKU item numbers.

Maybe I should wait until Timmer comes back to ask this, but does anyone know the titles and numbers to the complete catalog in this series?

    Thanks in advance,
    the filmscore gal,
    Galina

Gal, I can give you the catalogue numbers of the ones I've got, if that's a help - they all start GDICD, then go numerically.

    002 Theme Collection Volume One

    005 Theme Collection Volume Two

    006 THE MUMMY (Franz Reizenstein)

009 THE VAMPIRE LOVERS (Harry Robinson)

012 TWINS OF EVIL (Harry Robinson)

013 THE DEVIL RIDES OUT (James Bernard)

015 THE LOST CONTINENT (Gerard Schurmann)

016 CURSE OF THE MUMMY'S TOMB (Carlo Martelli)

What other ones have definitely been released? The QUATERMASS and FRANKENSTEIN compilations, SCARS OF DRACULA, TASTE THE BLOOD OF DRACULA, their COMEDY compilation (!). I'm forgetting some. Some things like DOC JEK AND SIS HYDE have been teasing us for months, and have even appeared in some blurbs as being available, but I've yet to hear of anyone who's got it. Same goes for the "upcoming" CAPTAIN KRONOS and BLOOD FROM THE MUMMY'S TOMB.

Great music from those old Hammers. Which ones particularly take your fancy, Galinda?

I think this is complete, as I've been nabbing each one since GDI started issuing them

HAMMER FILM MUSIC COLLECTION VOLUME ONE (GDICD002)
    HAMMER COMEDY COLLECTION (GDICD004)
HAMMER FILM MUSIC COLLECTION VOLUME TWO (GDICD005)
    THE MUMMY (GDICD006)
    HAMMER QUATERMASS COLLECTION (GDICD008)
    VAMPIRE LOVERS (GDICD009)
TASTE THE BLOOD OF DRACULA (GDICD010)
    HAMMER FRANKENSTEIN COLLECTION (GDICD011)
    TWINS OF EVIL (GDICD012)
    DEVIL RIDES OUT (GDICD013)
    SCARS OF DRACULA (GDICD014)
    THE LOST CONTINENT (GDICD015)
    SHE/VENGEANCE OF SHE (GDICD016)
    HAMMER VAMPIRE COLLECTION (GDICD017)
CURSE OF THE MUMMY'S TOMB (GDICD018)
BLOOD FROM THE MUMMY'S TOMB (GDICD019)

Since the orchestral hammer sound is pretty well represented by these CDs, methinks it's about time their more pop-oriented (and unfairly maligned) scores were preserved on CD ... namely Mike Vickers' DRACULA AD1972, John Cacavas' SATANIC RITES OF DRACULA, and Don Ellis' MOON ZERO TWO.

Okay, so shoot me, I like that 1970s funky sound

Yes Stephen..and if you want to hear the "apotheosis" of that 70's funky sound what better than "Douglas Gamley's" score to "The beast Must Die" which is on this Friday night on the BEEB. You know, every bone in my body tells me I should hate both the movie and score but for some reason I dont and quite enjoy them in a British campy funky 70's horror flick kinda way

I liked Devil Rides Out (surprisingly low key) and the Quatermass collection (the James Bernard stuff wasn't so good actually but the Tristram Cary was). I wasn't that thrilled with Martelli's score to Curse of the Mummy's Tomb, but it included a cue from The Mummy that sounded great. I don't have The Mummy but am told it's one of the best. The 2 Hammer compilations have great things on them but there are so many titles that it jolts you from one style to another over their play time. I liked Lost Continent but it's a tad harsh and modern. I took advantage of their lower price and $1 MM.com store postage this month to pick up some I didn't have.

I have enjoyed all of the James Bernard Hammer CDs. Tucked away in Taste The Blood Of Dracula is one of the most beautiful and effective love themes I've heard in recent years. I have really enjoyed the Harry Robinson scores, Twins Of Evil, in particular, which has what is now one of my favorite main title marches. And someone must agree with me because the theme for the Justice League cartoon running on the Cartoon Network sounds suspiciously familiar...

Graham, I have the two collections and since I love old horror movies, I have developed a fondness for the films that often show up on the old movie channels in cable. I always recall enjoying the music for these films, but I haven't seen any of them more than once so I can't say which ones I like the best. I guess I'll just have to collect these CDs and let you know after the fact!

Stephen, as always, thank you for being the well of information that you are! Obviously for some reason, GDI is not issuing the SKUs per CD release. One wonders what the vacant numbers are being reserved for...or do they use those numbers for items other than soundtracks (videos for example)?

Lou, I was going to do the same thing as you, but you beat me to it! So you're the reason that everything GDI was unavailable when I placed my order with PeterK! grumble, grumble, grumble
