So, there I was in line waiting for a whopping 4 hours in the middle of the night to see a movie at midnight called Star Wars - Episod II - Attack of the Clones. This is me we are talking here. Mr. Impatient. Yet the time went by rather quickly, although I had to resort in being all by myself because my family and friends are all losers and could not muster the energy to see this movie and go to work or school the next day. I need to get new friends like that little 7 year old...gosh...anyways.So, what did I do to pass the time. If you know me, then you are aware that I am rather shy in person (yes, indeed the net can change one's personality in remarkable ways) and so I am not really someone to approach anyone or start lightsaber battles in front of the crowd. Nope, I had my cd player - walkman - diskman - thingie and played all the Star Wars scores. Each one for about half an hour, 7 cds all together. My gosh, what a treat. One can hear the mastery of a certain composer called John Williams. From the sublte beginnings of A New Hope to the now Yoda kick - some major booty- Attack of the (suposenly bad title) Clones. The way his style has changed and yet that magical Star Wars feel is still present.
It is peculiar about these films George Lucas has created. I try to imagine my world without Star Wars. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a fanatic. I don't brush my teeth with Darth Maul red tooth paste, I don't wear Star Wars death star boxers (hahha, I could so go somewhere with that), but I did wear an episode II hat. But if it weren't for these movies, where would film music be today? Sure, someone else might have ressurrected the symphonic score. Sure, Horner came later and made soundtrack scores profitable. Yet, I mean, had it not been for that fateful day when I saw these images on the screen and heard that music. Had it not been for that soundtrack, with the liner notes by Williams and his detailed explanation how he composed the music, I would not be here today. Classical music would still be hated and Britney Spears would seem like the new Beethoven for me. I would have never attended a classical concert, let alone a John Williams concert. I would not be collecting soundtracks and thus would have deprived myself of countless of hours of great music. I would not have met all of you on this board. Sure, Andre, Hasta...we may disagree, but there is still something that binds us.
Yeah, so, wether you hated this last Clone thingie or whether you loved it. For me Star Wars is more than a movie series. More than a phenomenan. More than a lifestiyle. For me it has become something magical. Something that has impacted my life more than any other film ever has and probably ever will, and that, my dear friends,...that can never be compared in ordinary terms. I thank God for Mr. Lucas. I thank God for Mr. Williams. I thank God for all of you.

I really enjoyed reading that.By the way - (silly question)
Why do you guys wait in line? Don't you book tickets beforehand? Or are the tickets random and you get to pick your seats?

Actually (when I was young and stupid), I stood in line for TPM tickets (over 4 hours myself), when the time came for the actual purchase, all of our tickets were assigned seating. We didn't have to run to seats. We got there about 15 minutes before the show, and found our seats.

* Mark suddenly understands this whole waiting in line thingy *Oh I see. Here in Malta each and every cinema has numbered seating. The quicker you book/buy, the better your seat.

The theater here was about half full and it made the FRONT PAGE of the paper. That was mostly because of 4 losers....er fans, who dressed in jedi costumes and lightsabers.Talk about a small town.

But yep, here in the states it's run for your life and get a good seat. Although I am hearing of more theatres around here in L.A. which are actually doing this also.
