http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B000066SK6.01.LZZZZZZZ.jpgCheck it out- not unusual, but still, nice.
They did it right on this score release, using the main poster design (teaser, credit version) for the front cover. As well they should. One of my small complaints is they used the Moon picture for the cover of the Batman score- I felt using the poster design, cropped in at the sides, while conufsing covers withthe Prince CD, would've been better still. They could've found a way to distinguish the two better if that was route they'd gone- but this is all ex post facto conjecture. I'm still looking forward to this!posted 05-15-2002 10:49 AM PT (US)

I agree with you. I didn't like the cover they used for the Batman score either. I think they should ALWAYS use a movie poster image for the score, but nowadays it seems only the "inspired by" compilations get the movie poster covers.I'm happy to see that Spider-Man is getting one of the poster images at least. I like the compilation cover better (I'm using it for my wallpaper on my PC), but I like the score cover a lot also. Do you know, will the score cover be a collector's 3D image like the compilation CD?

Actually, I don't quite know- but I'm betting on no. The score gets some professional attention in the layout department most of the time, but unless it's Star Wars, Lord of The Rings, or some other big special flick, it's usually given no more than that. Now Spider-Man qualifies as a big one, but the money is already gone into one disc, if there's budget for the score disc, its usually structured to be a no-frills release. We are however, talking about a cinematic behemoth, so it is possible they'll add something to the disc. I just don't know what.

I like the "Batman" score CD cover. It was a rather nice moment in that film when the Batplane flew up in front of the moon and formed the bay-symbol.The ads/posters for that film only featured the black & gold bat-symbol and that was a rather boring image after awhile.
You all realize if it was done today, we'd have 6 different covers and then different bonus materials depending on where we purchased the CD.

I'm wondering now...The cover for the score CD is actually on the back cover of the compilation CD. Does this mean the cover of the compilation CD will be the back cover for the score?
