Looks like "Clones" has its work cut out for it.

Yeah, we're all over this one. Poor POTTER...
We'll see how sustained SPIDER-MAN is, though.... it might have a huge opening, but then drop off drastically (though I somehow doubt that)....

Yeah - and Episode 1 pissed off enough people so that I doubt it will open as well as that one did.. although this looks to be a far superior film. (To Episode 1... not necessarily to Spider-Man)

You're probably right, Dan, but just the fact that Jar Jar Binks has only a cameo in Clones upgrades it over Menace in my book.

Brian, I call it like I see it. And poor little POTTER is gonna have to just deal with this the reality that it lost this one. When places like CNN use the term "trashed" when referring to Spider-Man's take over Potter, that it's just too funny to leave alone.

I was thinking, if Sony was depending solely on theater sales to recoup the cost of the film (130M +50M for advertising) they would need to make 332M to come out with a minor profit of about 4M. If you assume they take a 55% cut. If you factor in licensing deals and international business, Sony could make many many millions in profit.Mark

I doubt very much Spider-Man will drop 50% next weekend, and even if it did, it's still a huge hit (note this did TWICE the business X-Men did its first weekend). Audiences in a very wide range like this movie a LOT--it will get repeat business and most importantly it will get business from women through next weekend and until AOTC opens.

Bitch!
Actually you are right. Spidey's obviously going to make a zillion dollars (I wonder if any of the actors have backend deals?) I just was noting how insane the numbers are getting for a big movie nowadays. Its almost surreal.

Just in case the box office returns weren't going to make the studio its millions and millions, Sony's backup plan appears to have worked somewhat....

A chair who's only major contribution to the film was keeping Tobey's butt from hitting the ground? It only proves P.T. Barnum was right all along, there IS a sucker born every minute.
