    Okay, but you must say the other choices would have fitted the scenes pretty well too.

    If I NEVER hear Barber's Adagio in a film again it will be a happy day. Oliver Stone should have skipped using that in "Platoon" and used the piece Georges Delerue wrote that was similar.

    Unfortunately...that piece of music tends to work in ANY film you put it in.(i.e. The Elephant Man, Platoon and a vocal version in The Scarlet Letter) It's a cliche now.

    I agree 100% James ((Bond 1965), years before Elephant Man, Platoon etc I loved Barber's Adaggio and I should point out that I still do, it's just that it's been so over used in films that it sounds diluted to the point that I rarely play it anymore.

    NP : Tallis Fantasia - Vaughan Williams...fantastic recording (attended by none other than Bernard Herrmann) by Sir John Barbirolli.
