The score from Queen of the Damned composed by Jonathan Davis and Richard Gibbs will be released on June 11th, the same day that Korn's new Untouchables album. Coincidence?

I'm confused about that. Was Korn actually IN that movie? I like his song Blind, but I never saw him before.

Jonathan davis, the lead singer and songwriter for Korn, wrote and performed the songs for the film *within* the film itself, however, the soundtrack release featured artists performing his songs instead (something about a label dispute). Jonathan Davis also wrote the score with Richard Gibbs. Jonathan made a brief appearance in the film, too, as a ticket huckster trying to get Jessie to buy his scalped tix. And just over his shoulder, and removed from all familiar make-up? His buddy and fellow artist, Marilyn Manson.

I can't remember all the details from this score, but I remember liking it when I saw the movie. (Yes, I admit it, I paid to go see this movie. )

Know any more details? Record label? Length? Tracks?

    Here ya go Mr. Dinko

    RICHARD GIBBS / JONATHAN DAVIS
Queen Of The Damned WB 48330 (Score Album) $17.99
(29:58) Horror movie from Anne Rice's "The Vampire Chronicles" carries moody, intense orchestral score with nods to Middle Eastern flavor. Often dark, sometimes exciting music. Strong performance an asset. One liability: as score reaches peak, album ends without a finish.

Hmmmm....curious. Once again, a studio issues an album long after anyone cares(hey it's the new millenium! Attention spans are practically non-existant, so unless it's Spider Man, if you release something two weeks after the film has come out no one cares!!), and a short one at that.

Not trying to knock the music, or the fact that it's being issued, just wanted to gripe for a second. There, now I've used my Bitch Pass for June....

Look for another gripe in July!

So, is it good? Similar to anything etc....
Haven`t heard much from Gibbs, though a few of his comedy scores are alright.

Isn't Gibbs the composer of choice for those Merchant Ivory films no one watches like The Golden Bowl and Howard's End?

He's alright I suppose, but I never connected with any of his music.

Actually that's Richard Robbins, JJH.....Remains of the Day is pretty good, as an album(I wouldn't touch one of those films).

Richard's are another streak of composers I mix up often too...Richard Robbins, Richard Rodney Bennett, Richard Rogers(right?), Richard Gibbs....ugh, I know there are more.

Robbins` music is great, though the term "not interested" comes to mind when talking about the films.
Remains of the Day, Howard`s End and especially Surviving Picasso are great.

Actually, Richard Gibbs has been working for over a decade on a number of films, mostly comedies. It's nice that more of his music is being put out, but there must be releases of:

    Fatal Instinct
    Clifford
    Amos & Andrew
    Ladybugs
    Big Momma's House

Let's hope that Gibbs strikes a deal with some label (Varese, SuperTracks) and puts out a compilation.

    #3 "On the Beach" - 4:44

Slow building chimes, strings and European flavoured instruments, distinct wailing Middle Eastern edge, percussion, such as cymbals, bongos, humming, solo violinist (in a trance like tone and mood).

    Does that help?
