I like the Target joke. It seems that they going with a different composer for each title they release so far so I can't be sure.Well for the club I'm guessing:
1. Predator - Silvestri
2. A score by Herrmann (Take your pick)
3. A score by Goldsmith or Newman (I'd put my money on Newman cause I think the Masters will be a Goldsmith score)
The Master's Release:The Boys from Brazil - Goldsmith

I thought these were supposed to be announced this month? What's the deal? They've been producing soundtracks for what, twenty years? And they don't have a timetable down on this stuff yet?

Of for god's sake...who cares? Schedules are hard to maintain for numerous reasons. I'm just glad they don't stop the club releases altogether because of all our petty whining...

God, how I wish that the Master Film Music release was a re-release of Jerry Goldsmith: Suites and Themes. It was a 2-cd set, if I remember correctly, so from that alone, I'll bet it's not at all. It'd be nice if one of those club releases was Goldsmith's Runaway

You've brought back the Whine police.
Thank God you didn't say something about Intrada.
Oh no... I hear the sirens already.

Dan,Found out at least three of those tracks were recorded with the LSO for last year's Telarc release. If that's all, and I really can't say I'm interested in The Blue Max much, then I already have what I want.
On the plus side, what if one of the Varese releases was Gremlins?

THE BLUE MAX is one of Goldsmith's top five scores of all time, IMHO. It's a great suite containing most of, if not, all of the highlights of the score into one beautifully recorded and performed piece. THE BLUE MAX suite is worth the price of the disc alone.

[/B]Actually, I can't claim to be a member of the whine police, because my response to Jonathan's was also a whine. In fact, I'm all for whining, I do a lot of it. But I like substantive whining. I like people who whine and get passionate about why they're whining. Whining about the end title being left off THE MUMMY RETURNS is a good whine.
This whine just seemed vacuous. At least Jonathan could have explained why he felt so disturbed that these releases slipped from April to May and the hardships this has caused him.

Maybe he would if asked....
Hey Dan, I hope Gareth Williams doesn't read your comments about "Suites & Themes" sounding exactly like "Goldsmith Conducts Goldsmith."
I think these labels might have learned after 20 years to simply announce something's pending arrival, and not necessarily a specific date... for all the reasons Rog mentioned, or at least alluded to.posted 04-25-2002 12:55 PM PT (US)

They're coming. better late than never, eh?I also would like them to be on time, but what can you do? So, now we wait a month for the announcement, and God only knows when they'll ship 'em out. Late Hune maybe?
okay, okay, I'll quit.
seriously, if Varese can work magic and get Joe Versus the Volcano out, I will be MORE than pleased.NP -- Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show, Fenton

Erik,I wouldn't be opposed to hear The Blue Max, the only reason I wasn't interested in it is because I haven't seen the movie. I wouldn't be opposed to seeing it, either. I should get around to that one of these days. Thanks for the recommendation.

All I want to know is the titles. They must have them set in stone by now... yes? I mean, FSM says "OK, our next new titles are blah1 and blah2, but we won't be shipping them for couple of weeks." I don't mind that.
My problem is a pretty consistent slew of delayed or vaporware products lately. In my opinion, it's really getting out of hand. I understand there are unforseen problems, but like I said, it's getting so common. Just give us the titles! I guess this could be accredited to the fact that more albums are being released recently (which of course is a very good thing.)
I think Varese might as well say, "Coming this year/decade we'll release more club releases. Stay tuned, we just might update our website someday."

I'll bet on Back to the Future, Small Soldiers - complete and a Golden Age score to be named later in the fifth race.

Back to the Future would have to be re-recording because of reuse fees correct?

My money's on a score release for Back To The Future if and when the DVDs come out. The club stuff probably won't be anything of that (box office) caliber.Shaun

And that's Christmas, according to TheDigitalBits. I do hope they release the score then (or earlier).
