Someone at work handed me a CD to listen to--Josh Groban, some new pretty boy, the usual romantic wailing you hear in Disney songs and Andrew Lloyd Webber musicals, not really my cup of tea. But shock and surprise when he belts out 2 Morricone songs.

This leads me to wonder if there aren't other strange surprises like this out there in the world of pop music.

I recall Combustable Edison doing music from Rota's 8 1/2, the Omega Men doing a cover of Barry's Beat Girl, even Neil Diamond doing an album with Elmer Bernstein! But what else is out there?

Yeah, i think i told people on the board about this way back when he first appeared on Ally McBeal and sung the tune. It features a theme from Malena I believe. Great song. Kinda reminded me of my past sorrows. Great song indeed.

This CD has been out for some time...it's very good. The other song is based on the theme from "Cinema Paradiso".

Actually...this reminds me of the Sarah Brightman CDs that feature songs based on film themes (i.e. "The Mission," "The English Patient", etc.)
