Not many people have mentioned what they thought of this score other than that they wanna know if it's going to be released, which it is. My thoughts on the score are pretty negative, not only because the film is complete garbage but Nick Glennie-Smith basically churns out Hans Zimmer's "Journey to the Line" track from The Thin Red Line into a beefed up, macho military theme. Ddid you anyone feel this way about the score? What do you guys think about it?NP: Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones (John Williams) *****/*****

The movie wasn't garbage, and the score was't that great, but still effective.posted 03-28-2002 04:57 PM PT (US)

Richard, Sean is talking about the movie WE WERE SOLDIERS and asking if we thought parts of the score by Nick Glennie Smith sounded like The Thin Red Line. Yes, I was sitting in the movie with my brother when that main theme came on, and we both looked at each other and said Thin Red Line music. Very similar.

Oh crap! I just noticed that I didn't mention the title, yeah it's We Were Soldiers. The score worked fine in the film, but it threw me back because The Thin Red Line is my favourite score, and I also started disliking the Magnolia score for this reason; they both mimic TTRL.Yes, TimT, movie bad! You can't mix pro-war ideas with that total anti-war look it had; and that comparison between Custar's massacre and the French one, please! The American military almost completely wiped out the First Nations of the United States. Also, that Berry Pepper taking pictures montage was just plain bad filmmaking and cheesey!

Oooh, another debate over an American-made war film and its portrayals. This thread should last a couple weeks at least.Combatants...commence!

And actually--I thought the music was effective. Not wholly original, but effective, and that's all that really matters.
