Just wondering if anyone here has any thoughts on the animated series, Samurai Jack (plays on the Cartoon Network). I was just channel flipping the other day and got hooked, by both its look and its sound. It's exceptionally scored (I'm talking sound-to-image scoring - don't tune in expecting a big orchestral score), and is edited in an almost cinematic way. (Although I dunno, do they really ever have to edit cartoons?)The great thing about this show is that there are often LONG stretches of action (not necessarily fighting) with no talking or sound effects, and the music has to carry everything. If you have a chance, check it out tomorrow (it airs Saturday afternoon and Saturday night) and see what you think, particularly the last sequence - the one with the trapped fairy.

I love this show. It's everything you said. The second season started last week.James Venable's music is fascinating - it's about half trip-hop - anyway, I like it.

Agreed. Great show (although I haven't seen it in weeks)...especially when compared to most of the crapnimation being produced today.Venable's music is adequate, working well in the show, but dunno if I'd like to listen to it at any other time. Reports came in from Cinescape and Aint It Cool News recently that Cartoon Network and New Line Cinema are in talks about a live action movie....Interesting, if not overly confident about the popularity of the show. Would rather see a Powerpuff Girls movie NP - Alanis in Candada (Great bootleg of Alanis Morrisette live in Canada) [Message edited by AaronR1074 on 03-09-2002]
