Philip has said he forgot to add Looking for Richard, but if anyone else finds their way to this thread who doesn't have it, you can get it from Half.com if you're interested.Fantastic score!

I have to admit that I've never knew what to "do" with the Looking for Richard score. But now that I'm so familiar with FOTR, perhaps I'll like Richard better as well. Must listen to it again.NP: A.I. - Promo (John Williams)

Philadelphia is a very nice score.
for a hint at what Shore classical chamber music might sound like (I know he writes a lot of chamber works), check out his score for Esther Kahn.posted 03-04-2002 09:22 PM PT (US)

Marian, do you also think that the A.I. promo has better sound than the regular release? Maybe it's a mental thing, I don't know......Shaun

Possibly. I haven't directly compared them, and have played the promo only once so far. There's one track that seemed to sound better than I remembered - but it might have been a different piece (and therefore a different performance/orchestration) than the one I knew from the official album.

Ah yes, his chamber works! Two of them are available on (the same) CD: Reel Life: The Private Music of Film Composers on the Arabesque label. The first is a somewhat odd piece called "Hughie" that runs about 4:15 (if memory serves), and the second a solo piano work entitled "Piano Four" that runs somewhere in between 2:30 and 3:00.Not a lot by Shore is included, but it's a good album if you like the small ensemble sound. Music by Rachel Portman, Bob James, Michael Kamen, David Raksin, and a wonderful piece by Bruce Broughton are also included.
