I can`t believe Rob Cohen still goes for Randy Edelman. After Fast and the Furious I thought he had come to his senses, but doesn`t seem like it. This film has the potential to be a fun summer blockbuster, but now it will be hindered with what will almost certainly be one of Edelman`s synth-`orchestra` combos with underwhelming routine themes. I know that Edelman`s `style` has been discussed millions of times, but I can`t understand why people still hire him (OK, Gettysburg is decent enough, though it sounds very cheap). Oh, and if you fancy a laugh, there`s a great interview with Edelman over at Film Score Monthly.

Just needed to get that out of the system.

Couldn't agree more. Fast and the Furious was a cool contemporary techno score and it looks like XXX needs a similar kind of treatment... I bet my left foot that Edelman will not deliver "that" score.

Hm...I think that Randy will fare well. When I first saw the trailer for the film I though that Zimmer's MI2 score would be perfect for this film. A combination of ethnical music( remember that some parts of this movie takes place in Prague), and a little bit of techno thrown in. And plus, they have the advantage of working together before so whatever Randy does surely won't dissapoint Rob.

This does look like a good, entertaining summer flick. I'll definitely check it out due to the fact that I love the director's style. I agree...I wish he would've at least chosen a composer to the fit the feel of the film. BT would've been appropriate again for this one I think.

Yes, it probably won`t disappoint Cohen, but I`m quite sure I`ll be disappointed (I`ve never been exactly pleased with an Edelman score). They should hire him to compose music for whatever Star Trek series is on, as the bland generic music Berman seems to want is basically what Edelman normally delivers (OK, he`s done a few nice themes, but....). Though in this case Edelman would actually have to USE an orchestra, which may be a small problem for him.
