Not impressed with Raiders?! How can this be?

I think Raiders is the best of all three, while Temple being very good, is way too short to compete with the other two. I need a complete Temple of Doom score.

Anyways....The only thing I got so far is Die Hard. So far.

Sadly no new CDs in my collection. I'm on a three month self imposed ban on buying CDs to help straighten out my finances and also to listen to all the stuff I've already got.

Went to a record fair today - dodgy second-hand stuff at fairly steep prices, but I took my chance on some cheapos:

STAR TREK V (Jerry Goldsmith): I have this on LP a million miles away, but I decided to update it to CD. Great, energetic Jerry score.

HOOK (John Williams): Haven't heard it yet, at least not since it became part of the family earlier today. Had heard bits before. Sounded good enough then.

And, on LP, Spanish pressing, LORD JIM (Bronislau Kaper): Fine dramatic score, with hints of Rozsa and maybe Friedhofer. But it's damaged to buggery, what with snap crackle pop and all, and I lost count of the number of times I had to get off my butt to set it on its way. Can't ever play it again, though it's nice to look at.

I also (thankfully, in retrospect) left behind an LP copy of PICNIC (George Duning). That was too expensive, but it's a good score. Was probably all buggered to hell anyway.

You know, flicking through those old LPs really took me back. Much more impressive-looking than those silly wee CDs, and having the score split onto two sides (and being able to see the actual tracks on the vinyl) gave a good insight into the architecture of, if not the score itself, then at least the presentation of it.
