Was there ever a score release of the 1973 version of this movie? And the sequel "The Fourth Musketeer"?

I know there was a vinyl release of Michel Legrand's score for "The Three Musketeers." I'm not sure there was one for Lalo Schifrin's "The Four Musketeers," but I think there was.

There was a Bay Cities Cd release for Legrands score for the 1973 Three Musketeers.

Keith, I've got both of those on LP. Can't help you with info on possible CDs. The Schifrin score is one side only, coupled with THE EAGLE HAS LANDED. Brilliant scores for those MUSKETEERS movies. I think Schifrin has the edge over Legrand here. Legrand's is a lot of fun, but the score for the sequel is often breathtakingly good (and very under-appreciated). Time for a full release?

FOUR MUSKETEERS (great, exuberant score, lyrical even when it's being melancholy and dark) was released on a Label X CD along with music from THE EAGLE HAS LANDED and VOYAGE OF THE DAMNED. It's probably out of print, but may still be available somewhere. Perhaps Aleph will do an expanded reissue. Please.

Yes, both of these are on CD, although the Bay Cities CD is out of print. There are a couple versions of the 4 Musketeers CD, one has extra cues the other doesn't (the expanded one is in print, the other is not).

Both these scores are masterpieces. Schifrin's 4 Musketeers may be the finest thing he EVER did. And, if it weren't for Cherbourg and Ice Station Zebra, Legrand's 3 Musketeers would be the finest thing he ever did.

Both scores are must haves for any serious collector of film music (I love making those kind of draw-the-line statements)!

I'll second that. A nice 2 CD set with both movie scores would be fabulous and long overdue.
