It's Monday again, so that means in just under 12 hours we'll (well, at least some of us) will be congregating in the "weekly (or "weakly") chat.

The big question of the week: Will our illustrious leader be there, sicne his "precious" Raiders got their fannies kick in the Super Bowl?

Well, I don't know about that, but I should be there - provided you all promise to talk about things other than the superbowl!!

The SuperBowl, for lack of a better word, was just as boring as most football is. Maybe if I had a nice HDTV setup it would have been more engaging. Though I've read at an HDTV board that ABC's HDTV presentation was fairly limited due to only about a dozen HDTV cameras, poor SD upconverts, and limited graphics. Not to mention that the commentators often said things about stuff shown on the analog presentation which didn't always correspond to what HDTV users were viewing.

I hear that some of the trailers, like The Matrix sequels, were well worth it in HDTV and 5.1 sound.

Since I'm off topic enough already blabbing about ABC, I thought it was a bit cheap of "Alias" to dumb down and 'start anew' -- I guess the future episodes will not be as unioned together as the past ones were. Another cheap thing was starting the episode with Jen Garner in lingerie to entice the audience from the post-game show, and the use that silly "24 hours earlier" trick to show the REAL beginning of the episode. What do you think I am, dumb or something?

Can somebody show me where the Junkyard is?

A week later and "Alias" is still blowing chunks!

[Trying to write Alias in italics.. that isn't right for a TV show, is it?]

First, add the server to your servers list: In the options window, click on Add, and enter irc.webmaster.com in the "IRC Server" field (use any description you like, e.g. Webmaster).

Next, pick that new entry from the dropdown box BELOW IRC Network. Enter your full name, email address and nickname in the fields below (if you pick a nick that's already taken, you will automatically log out after 30 seconds or so when you connect (see below), so try something more obscure in that case).

That was the settings part. Click OK, then click the "connect" button in the menu bar (the one with the lightning icon). A window titled "mIRC Channels FOlder" will appear. Enter #moviemusic into the text field and click Join - and you're there.

...and I can only recommend anyone still using JavaChat to try this, too.

    Thanks for the help Marian!
I did everything you said but when I try to connect, it says "unable to connect (network is unreachable)"
Keep in mind that I'm on my school's network and I think we have a firewall...
I'm not sure how to get around that. Thanks

    Jen,

Most schools do have firewalls built in, but you might still be able to get on the server.

I never set up anything special, but I have a firewall here, and get through no problem.

Need any more help, just yell.

    Ok, what does this mean:

    quote:

*** #moviemusic Cannot join channel: Only registered, identified users can create channels.

That's what javacrapchat told me when I tried entering the room. It's the first time that I see that notice.

After I entered my nickname and password, it allowed me to enter.

I didn't have to register my nick (again).

I just typed it in on the page with the "entrance forbidden" note.
After it accepted my nick, I clicked on #moviemusic and it let me in.

    This is what I did:

Load Java up to the point where it says "Cannot Join Channel blahblahblah"?

type in nickname in the box at the bottom of the screen.

    fill in the password

    get a password accepted message.

Then click on the *** #moviemusic thing.

See, the problem is, I've never registered my nickname before. Now I've registered my nickname and I'm waiting for an email to activate it or something, because when I enter my password it still complains about me not being identified.

I doubt many people are going to make it to chat tonight.
