I've seen A Beautiful Mind and I absolutely loved it. I thought Russell Crowe's performance was amazing, and I loved how Ron Howard actually visualized Nash's thoughts and thought process. But...I was paying to much attention to the soundtrack. Does anyone have it? Would you recommend it?

Yesterday I listened to some clips at the listening staion at Fred Meyer, and I will say it is one I definitly want. I don't usually make a decision after just listening to samples, but, if I get the extra money soon...

I listened to the score on CD before I saw the film and thought it was so-so. A lot of it sounds like the usual Horner stuff, and the strongest music was a rip-off of Jon Brion's score to Magnolia. Oh, and the album is too damn long. After seeing the film I can say it works better against pictures. When I listened to is again, I'd say I enjoyed it more.
One of Horner's better efforts of late, I'd say...

Well I have it. It's not very original, but still a good listen.

A Beautiful Mind is a great film, sure to grab beaucoup de Academy Awards (for actor, supp. actress, director, and film). Though certainly not my favorite film because of it's truly sappy finale, it's a good watch. As for the music? Horner's the man, but he's overdone it on the whole "i'll borrow from myself and no one will notice" thing. Listen to "Kaleidoscope of Mathematics" and then "The Machine Age" from Bicentennial Man (which borrowed from Titanic and Braveheart) and you'll know exactly what I'm talking about.
