Me definetely MINORITY REPORT. This is a good subject for an epic score to be done by the maestro.

So which score are you looking forward to?

    Philipp

NP: HARRY POTTER ( WILLIAMS )

The Potters and Star Warses - because I know how they'll probably will sound and that they most certainly will be great. I'm very interested in Minority Report, but I have no idea what it will sound like.

NP: Igor Stravinsky: Le sacre du printemps (City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Simon Rattle)

Star Wars for me...though I am curious about Minority Report.

But I don't think it will be epic as someone has suggested. The film will most likely (if done correctly) be dark and taught. A reserved Williams is in order...

I am only interested in STAR WARS.

After the A.I. and "HOOK" POTTER AND THE EASTWICK STONE fiascos, I believe only good old George will be able to inspire good old John once more...

Potter and A.I rules... And there was no one score better than these two masterpieces last years...
In fact, I doubt that any score will be good as A.I. in 2002 and in the years to come...
    Yes!

I am kind of interested on this one too, altought I doubt that a movie directed by Spielberg, the new master of cheap emotions, and starring Tom "Vanity" Cruise, can ever be good...

But I think it's fair to believe it will be better than the A.I. embarrassing.

Anyway, just my two cents. No need to kick your fat cat's ass because of that.

If Potter and A.I. are masterpieces then the state of film music is in dire straits. I've said it before and I'll say it again, Final Fantasy and Fellowship are far and away superior, both in respect to genre (sci-fi/fantasy) but on general merit as well.

In the past I have broken down what elements of those scores impressed me, and what did not about AI and Potter. A few folks (such as Marian) have given detailed reasons why they enjoy Potter--that I can respect. But I have yet to hear a compelling arguement for AI...both the film and score. The justification usually boils down to...its a complex movie that's too far above most folks' heads.

Back on topic though...Star Wars & Minority Report top my list.

Not that you have to defend your opinion--but out of curiosity...what exactly do you like about it?

I looked forward to AI specifically because I couldn't figure out how it would sound. I looked forward to Harry Potter because I just wanted to hear his use of themes.

This year, the same goes for Minority Report and Star Wars. I'm curious to hear the musical accompaniment to what will be parts blockbuster summer fare, parts thought provoking Blade Runner homage.

Star Wars should rock because of the development of the characters and their musical themes should show that.

Boy this is going to be a great year. Is anyone else writing scores this year that are equally talked about? I don't think so!

Ummm... there's Potter 2 and The Two Towers. And let's not forget Spiderman, Sum of All Fears, and Star Trek: Nemesis. Aside from those, I'm sure a couple of really big surprises will creep up on us... take for instance, The Time Machine by Badelt, which no one suspects will be worth the time of day. Just you wait... I've got a feeling it's gonna be a whopper. Then there's Treasure Planet and Lilo & Stitch, two animated feature scores that I'm sure will be a lot of fun.

There's a lot being talked about... Attack of the Clones and Minority Report are not the only films in the lime light, bud.

Though you gotta wonder - what type of score would Williams write for SPIDERMAN? Or STAR TREK: NEMESIS? Or SUM OF ALL FEARS?

Things that make you go "hmmmm......"
