Now, maybe I'm just confused... but Nick Glennie-Smith doesn't seem to get his scores released very often.

So something's funny with Sony Classical releasing a Glennie-Smith score. Not that I'm going to complain, but I just find it strange. Is it?

I know this really doesn't answer Dinko's curiosity, but just a little side observation: Behind Enemy Lines (Nov), Black Hawk Down(Jan/Dec), Hart's War(Feb), and We Were Soldiers(Mar). That makes four war-themed theatrical movies in 5 consecutive months (if you count BHD's premiere overlapping two months, December/January). Correct me if I am wrong, but I think this is unprecedented for the war genre. And not to mention the perfect timing by the marketing boys at Touchstone for the video release of Pearl Harbor on the week of December 7 and it's somewhat chilling to think that Band of Brothers actually premiered September 3. That's what I call "strange."

I don't think its strange at all. Its not like he's a pop artist. Sony is promoting the movie with Mel Gibson by the soundtrack, not Nick Smith and his music. If he was a pop or rock singer then it would matter because then they'd be promoting him and want to make sure he's worth it.

The trend picks up again in May. That month there are two films premiering that are both "almost" war films: The Sum of All Fears and Harrison's Flowers. In June you have Windtalkers. In July K-19: The Widowmaker comes along. It skips August, then picks up again in a big way in September with Gods and Generals. It ends in October which, like May, has two movies that are "almost" war films: The Grey Zone and Naqoyqatsi. There's also Max, which is fishing around for a fall date.

Yes, well, if you're talking about We Were Soldiers, according to CDUniverse it's on Sony Discos.
But the catalogue number is the same as MM's listed cat#.

Anybody know if Band of Brothers will be released on DVD? Last time I checked on Amazon it wasn't listed. I don't have HBO so I unfortunately missed it and hope to buy the DVD as soon as it comes out, just from word of mouth.

It will be out in May or June (don't remember what I've heard) - but you gotta wait for the official announcement before it shows up on Amazon....
