Just checked Varèse Sarabande's website, and I don't think it's been posted yet, so there we go:

    * Collateral Damage by Graeme Revell (02/05)

    * Last Orders by Paul Grabowsky (03/05)

    * Harrison's Flowers by Cliff Eidelman (03/12)

Nice to see a new Eidelman record, but I thought Goldsmith might be doing Orders? What happened! Grabowsky did a source/jazz cue on 6 Degrees Of Seperation for dir. Schepsi.....so does that mean that Fred was more taken with that single cue, than what Goldsmith did on the picture? Hence Grabowsky being hired over JG?!?!? What's the deal!
The only other thing I know of from Grabowski is the universally reviled NOAH'S ARK(although I haven't heard it...just that everyone seems to hate it).

    Ciao,
    Sean

What I would like to hear is how Eidelman's Harrison's Flowers compares with the original by Bruno Coulais (available on EMI France).

Apparently there was score screwing around there. Coulais having composed some 45 minutes of score, and only 15 being retained for the movie.
Then the director and the producers seeking another composer for the US release.

well what with Dinko added above, plus no Jerry on Orders, plus the Revell score being delayed(ditto the film)...what we have here is a trifecta of unwanted, tinkered, goofed up film scores!

    Huzzah!

I had a feeling that "Collateral Damage", the score, would eventually see a release. I saw an ad for Varese in an issue of (I believe) Premiere magazine. One of the covers featured was "Collateral Damage" (It was fairly unremarkable; hopefully, there's been time to change it). Note that this was around a week after the WTC disaster and the mag (ad and all) went to press before then.

Also, bad news for us John Debney fans: I sent an e-mail concerning the "Jimmy Neutron" score album and the response was that they have no plans to release it.

BTW, if anyone cares, this is my two-year anniversary at this board. I hope I got something nice.

I wouldn't call the Eidelman score "unwanted," and until I hear it I wouldn't call it "goofed up." I loved his recent American Rhapsody, though I got the impression that perhaps some found it boring.

Don't get me wrong, I love Eidelman's work, and have all his cds(except Free Willy 3....yet ). I just found it funny that something appeared to have been changed in some way on all three releases, and would have never known that Eidelman's score replaced someone else's.

For those who want to hear a GREAT Cliff Eidelman score, and are in the mood for something heavy, get Triumph of the Spirit....in my opinion, its better than Schindler's List, a fully rounded cantata and oratorio to the horrible events of the Holocaust....at least it's better on album than Schindler, which sounds to me to keep digging up the same theme a few too many times...they should have kept that album at 40 mins, instead of 65

Preparing for the Williams police to draw and quarter me,
    Sean

Kirk, I found American Rhapsody to be quite good, too. Glad to see at least one other person (and someone I know, at that) enjoyed Eidelman's score.

Too bad Jimmy Neutron wasen't released. From all the online stores, it looks like Varese was already to ship the disc then at the last minute someone pulled the plug.

Too bad, I was looking forward to it.

    Some IMAX flick.

Search www.Amazon.de for "ocean men" and you'll find it.
So far, Amazon.de is the only place where the CD is available online.

I saw 'Last Orders' at the 'London Film Festival' in November and it's a wonderful film. Great performances from Caine, Courtney, Hemmings, Mirren and Hoskins.
Much of it is set in a part of South London which is close to where I live!.

Paul Grabowsky was a composer that I was unfamiliar with until I saw this film. His score is basically very pleasant light jazz and works well in the film. I'd like to have the CD but it is not at the top of my list right now.

Aside from the aforementioned 'Six Degrees of Seperation' - I've never heard any of Grabowsky's scores. Perhaps someone would care to enlighten me as to what they're like.

Here in Australia, he is most famous for being a studio band leader for the talk show 'Tonight Live with Steve Vizard'(1990-1993). The Australian show was a replicant format of 'Late night with David Letterman'. In this sense, Gabrowsky is Paul Schaffer's trans-atlantic counterpart. He played jazz on the show. Is this wholly reflected in his scores?

Well...if that's the case...I'm glad I picked up that Academy Promo of Debney's score. It's rather fun and runs about 37 mins. No track titles.

Jeron, didn't you know that Grabowsky had a cue on the Six Degrees Of Separation soundtrack? "Give Six" is the title. In fact, Sean already mentioned this earlier in the thread.

Hmmmm... Shaun, you're right. Duh. I just forgot (that's what happens when you play Return to Castle Wolfenstein for 2 hours straight). I did make an effort to skim the thread for previous mention of Grabowsky, but I guess I missed Sean's comment (sorry Sean!).

I remember the Paul Grabowsky score for last year's Michael Caine boxing London wideboy film SHINER. Quite good, but a bit all over the shop. Or you could just say "varied." Haunting whistled jazzy titles, Pino Donaggio-esque stabbing strings and more. I think Grabowsky himself played keyboards on the soundtrack.

NOAH'S ARK did take a lot of stick. I only vaguely remember seeing it, but I do recall wondering why it had been specifically picked on. It sounded okay to me (though that's hardly a recommendation).

I thought Grabowski's score to NOAH'S ARK (that miniseries thing back in 1999) was alright... and that's the only score of his I have.

I think it might due to JNH being unable to do it rather than he was replaced. I like Graeme, but him replacing James because James wasn't good enough is just KARAZZZEEE!!!!
