I want the full thing, with all that powerful chorus that is not featured in the "official" album!!This needs to be fixed quite soon!

I would really have to thank the sound mixer for the Moria sequence....letting Shore's "Hhoo, hhoo, hhoo" chorus take center stage as our hapless heroes first descend the stairs. Even after a 5th viewing, it still gives me goosebumps.

Although it is obviously necessary in the film, I was quite dissappointed that the huge sound effects as the 2 bits of bridge slam together overshadow the best statement of the Fellowship theme in the whole score......

That's why I am so frustrated with the score release, since the best part of it was left out...

Agreed, that bit is one of the best. I hope we'll get a longer release soon (same thing with Chess Game from Potter, BTW, where you notice even more that some great bits are missing).NP: Ride With the Devil (Mychael Danna) - With thanks to Timmer!

I have to agree with everyone- of course, that track was pretty long even not complete, but I think that they left out some very good Moria music. Ah, well- you can't fit everything in...

not with the interactive doo-doo they forced onto the CD.
the Moria sequence has about 20 minutes of music in it. there was no way that was getting onto a 1 CD versikon of the score.sad.

My BRIDGE OF KHAZAD-DUM is too damn short!!That's Z'Ha'Dum!! Besides, it was destroyed by the Drahk, who were minions of the Shadows, as they evacuated the planet after the Shadows passed beyond the Rim. Of course, the Drahk evacuation was prompted by a message sent by Lyta Alexander from hyperspace while they were on their way their with Psi-Corp Cop Bester; Lyta did this as a way to get back at Bester for all the evil he had done to the teeps. But of course, Capt. Sheridan bawled out Lyta for doing this, thus probably staring in motion the entire telepath crisis, followed by the Telepath war, and the eventual Drahk attack on Earth, releasing the virus which would wipe out all life on Earth in five years time if the mission of the Excalibur under Capt. Matthew Gideon did not succeed.

Yes, a complete release is in order. In addition to the crossing the bridge part of "The Bridge of Khazad Dum," the album track ends before the moving music for Frodo's reaction to Gandalf's fall. The album, while expertly edited, is way too short. Several important themes, including the "Gondor" theme and a travelling motif heard at the beginning of the Fellowship's quest, don't even appear.
And I'd love to hear that music for the battle scene at the beginning...

And the mourning music after Moria might even be longer in the original version. Before the Fellowship turns to go to Lothlorien, Frodo is moving away from the group, followed by a rather harsh cut. Which leads me to believe that the Kheled-zaram scene might be in, too.NP: Call of the Champions

There's a great amount of unreleased music, such as
- Aragorn and Lurtz fight
- The Squid Attack
- Boromir remembers Gondor
- The Opening sequence (complete)
- The Mines of Moria (complete)
- The Council of Elrond (complete)... and others I can't remember now.

And the mourning music after Moria might even be longer in the original versionI'm guessing that's Edward Ross again doing the vocal as they escape out into the open, but in the movie a choir comes in and continues, humming that same theme, god I loved that. Wish it was on the CD.
You know the cue I miss most? As Aragorn and Boromir discuss Gondor there is this LOVELY cue which I could only hope is a theme to Gondor which we would hear at a later date. Indeed, I've noticed every time Gondor is mentioned variant brass themes come into play, none of them the same in theme, but most certaily in essence. In Rivendell, in Lothlorien and as Boromir passes.
I'm probably going to sample this Lothlorien scene off the screener, because Bean's delivery of dialogue here is just so excellent anyway, I like listening to it. lol

Can't remember it though. But surely was a "new" theme, different from all the rest...posted 01-31-2002 11:11 AM PT (US)

André , yes it's just that scene the theme appears in, and like I said there is a variation at Rivendell when Gondor is mentioned which isnt the same theme, but is again brass like the other cue.I'm guessing the use of brass when Gondor is mentioned is in relation to the seranade of trumpets that Boromir speaks of in the Lothlorien scene.

What about the bit in the beginning when Gandalf rides to Minas Tirith? Any characteristic music there? (It's now over a month that I've seen the film, but February is approaching

Not sure, Marian. There is that real big surge of the orchestra on the establishing shot, a real grand bit which is on the cd but I wouldn't deem that a theme.I take it we've established Gollum does have a theme? Everytime he's mentioned or appears the score moves into a specific theme. This happens in the Prologue, when Frodo speaks of Bilbo finding the ring in Gollum's cave (when Frodo and Gandalf are having tea), when Gandalf tells Frodo that Gollum knew Bilbo had the ring and once again in Moria when Frodo sees Gollum.

I think that the thematic material for Gondor at Rivendell and Lothlorien seems to be the same, but the orchestration is very different. The last time I saw the film I really listened for it.
