I was browsing the web today and came across the website of this new movie (to be released here in the US next Friday but already in theaters in the UK). I liked the sound of the music playing during the previews and was wondering if this was from another movie.
http://bventertainment.go.com/movies/montecristo/intro.htmThe movie's composer is Ed Shearmur, someone I'm not familiar with. If this is an example of his work, I'm looking forward to seeing the movie.

The music you heard probably wasn't from the movie's score. According to the soundtrack.net website, depending on which trailer you saw, the music would have been from one of these:

On the subject of "The Count of Monte Christo". Am I imagining things, or does the guy speaking on the TV trailer actually say, "The Count of Monte CHRISCO".
I swear, I've listened to it several times now, and each time, the guy seems to be saying "Monte Chrisco".
Is it all in my head, or what?

Anybody else hear it this way???

Hi all:Thanks for the input. I guess I'll have to go rent "Plunket and Maclean" as the one minute loop playing on the website sounds like an 18th century adventure tune.
About the UK release: I read a review over on the IMDB in which a fellow in London talked about seeing the premier in that city.
See: http://us.imdb.com/Title?0245844I guess you'll have to take British Rail down south if you want to see it.

Thanks, PeterD, I have been trying to find out what that music was for a while. And now I know it's Redrum from Immediate Music. I've heard it in so many trailers lately that it's been driving me crazy that I couldn't find out what it was.

I saw this movie over the weekend and it turns out that the music playing in the loop on the website is in the movie. IT was during the prison scenes, when he was learning to fight.I'd call this a fair-to-good score. I only wish the end credits had been more of a review of all the themes used in the movie rather than a long version of the love theme.
I don't know whether or not I'll buy a copy. I'll have to have a relisten at some of the themes if they are provided as samples to listen to before buying.
Oh, and I thought the movie was excellent. Probably the best telling of this story that I've ever seen.
OOOps, sorry I wasn't aware of this: http://www.moviemusic.com/mb/Forum1/HTML/008272.html
