This just proves one thing: SOUNDTRACKS DO NOT SELL. Only "MUSIC FROM AND INSPIRED BY" collections do (nowadays they don't even sell--more like downloaded). That's the sad truth. These kinds of things don't even deserve to use the word "soundtrack." Thankfully Vince McMahon wasn't the executive producer on the Mummy series as well, otherwise I wouldn't never taken My First Bus Ride on Silvestri Express.

The bottom line is, Vince McMahon is the executive producer. That means there are only two things on his mind, ka-ching and ka-ching. I had wished that XFL debacle would teach him a lesson, but I guess not. This movie seriously has FAILURE written all over it...."I have come for the woman?"

I have to wonder though, why did my favorite Asian actress have to destroy her budding film career with this idiotic flick?

I won't even get into the whole business of "Music Inspired by" albums, because this could turn into something ugly....

But let's cheer up: Varèse might pick up Debney's score a few months afterwards. It's very much possible.

    Right?

The idea of making a soundtrack release like that for a movie like this is insane. I'm willing to bet that this CD was co-produced by The Rock himself or the WWF.

Just another film that sounds less interesting as time goes by.

One really odd thing about this is that some of those tracks have been previously released. That means that if they're not in the film, they technically couldn't have been "inspired" by it either.

I'm confident someone, if not Varese, will pick this up for a score release. (Although Varese is the most likely.) It is a pretty major picture. I predict it will open huge, then go into a rapid nosedive shortly thereafter.

Mark, frankly I'm shocked that you thought it looked interesting in the first place!

This movie is going to be crap. They should've just called it Kull The Conqueror II: The Quickening.

So, by that rationale, Dude, Where's My Car? had a chance to be a great film?

I don't remember saying it had to be great. I kinda like to have a open mind about things but the more I see the less I care.

IIRC, Debney headed to London to record the score. I guess he did this not just for a fuller sound, but for this worst-case scenario which has inexplicably occured. I sure that Decca Records will put the score out. I mean, they just can't break precedent, vis-a-vis the two previous "Mummy" soundtracks.

That was exactly what I thought too, Tim. Another compilation of simplistic, one-note music, a la WWF's TOUGH ENOUGH, that is trying to pass for heavy metal. How this has anything to do with ancient Egypt is beyond me.

According to Debney, there will be no score on that song album because they aren't recording the score until mid-March. But he expects that someone will pick up the score for release...

I was more disturbed to see that Jonathan Hales is one of the scribes on this pile of crap. Yet more evidence star wars will be a cringe-inducing mess.

Oh well, the score to a movie like this couldn't be worth our times anyways. On another note, at least the CD has new music in it. Godsmack, Ozzy AND Rob Zombie (doing a track together, coolness), System of a Down, POD?! If you like rock as much as me this is almost too good to be true.
