I was looking around for some reviews or anything about this score, and I found basically nothing. From oppinions I've heard it's suposed to be really good. For those of you who have it how is it? I'm quite interested in it. Thanks.Np: Basic Instinct (Jerry Goldsmith)

If you're looking for the 1954 movie score, it is a great composition by Miklos Rozsa, my favourite composer.* The original score (with narraton by Sabu) was released by Flapper label - you can find it at Intrada and amazon.de
* Colosseum also released the full orcheltral suite (no narration) coupled with The Thief of Bagdad. It can be found at amazon.de

I'd have to listen to it agian, But I remember it has great themes for Mowgli and Baloo, and some thundering action music for the big Tiger (I forgot his name) Sherekahn?Anyway I also remember alot of people saying its not one of Basil's best efforts. But I killed them, so you don't have to worry about that.
The...Europeon release of the soundtrack, sound track, (is it one word or two?) includes a song with a type of world beat, arab feel to it thats really good, but its not on the US CD.

You can read a review here:
http://www.shef.ac.uk/~cm1jwb/junglecd.htmI don't have this CD, nor do I know where to get it, but if you find out please tell me. I can remember a lot of music from the film, all of it spectacular.

I actually came across this score recently, and I'd have to say while it's good, it's a far stretch from Poledouris' best.***/***** IMO, but still worth getting if you can find it (I think it's OOP).

Aren't there two versions of the Poledouris score? One with a song and one without? (I've got the one without.)Either way, it's fine. Not one of Basil's greatest, but worth having.

Soundtracker:The Alexander Korda version of THE JUNGLE BOOK, featuring Miklos Rozsa's incomparable score, was released in 1942, not 1954.
