    Why?

Ok, I got a PSOne with Syphon Filter 2 and the Die Hard Trilogy. The soundtrack to Spy Game (Harry's best from when he's worked alone), a $10 gift certificate for Hollywood Video. A bunch of meaningless stuff that was owned by my dead grandpa. My grandma gives it to me because she's too cheap to buy me something. Some ca$h which is always good and the worst present of all..... clothes...

Plus some clothes and a mall gift certificate. I'll be visiting the exchange fairy pretty soon to swap something for those duplicate DVDs. I'll probably get some more CDs, or if Best Buy has it in stock, the Criterion Time Bandits DVD.

    CD:

    Beggar's Banquet (The Rolling Stones)

    Books:

The first three Harry Potter novels (have to re-read them again, but I only owned the fourth book before Christmas) plus Quidditch Through the Ages.

    Equal Rites (Terry Pratchett)

Plus a new cushion (finally - and as a result, I woke up today earlier than usual, but not tired at all ) and an M.C. Escher puzzle (the same as last year, unfortunately, due to an error on my own part - hopefully, I can exchange it). And a D string for the guitar - hopefully, I'll find some time to finally learn how to play it!

From my other grandparents? Just clothes.

No film scores, but I guess I'll get more of those for my birthday in three weeks.

And I treated myself to a second viewing of Fellowship of the Ring.

lol. Actually, she gave me a button that I gave her back in '92. And an old Viking shirt. But the things that DID mean something were my grandpa's old calogne. Even though it doesn't smell good. But the reason I said the meaningless thing was because she does this every yeard because she's trying to make room for her garden.

congrats to Mark on his engagement.

the last few X-mases have been quite different than usual for my family, as we are all spread out from coast to coast, but then, that's why telephones are so nifty.

So far, I've gotten the Criterion Collection DVD of Spartacus, bar none the best DVD there is.

The alternate Alex North compositions are a delight to hear, and the score as heard in film, is of course stunning.

My happiest Christmas gift surprise was an "Action Santa", a singin' & dancin' miniature thingy. The reason for this was that last Christmas my father got a similar "Action Salmon" from my brother (- the salmon sang an Elvis song and waved its tail -) and, for the first time in my life, I was a bit envious of such a wonderful thingy..! So, bro told me he wanted this year give me something hilariously similar.

Two surprise CDs were LOTR:FOTR (which, unfortunately, is another unmagical harrypotterishjohnwilliamish-thingy for me) and a much more positive one on which Robbie Williams performs swing classics with Nicole Kidman & friends.

Then I got three very good-looking shirts, a gift-certificate, and a bunch of other gifts which are more or less to be regarded inside-jokes, so I won't describe them here. It's nice to have a big family..!

I didn't get much for Christmas. There are the clothes that I always get, of course. But, as is the new tradition in my family...

    Money, money and more money!

Other than that and a few CD' I bought with some of that lovable green, I got the Pearl Harbor DVD, and our own Sean Adams was nice enough to send me Goldsmith's Rio Conchos and a gift card to The Wherehouse. Thanks man!

Oh, and after waiting like the cheap bastard I am, I too bought a PSOne! Games at $10 bucks is my kind of deal! Okay, it took me 6 years, but beggars can't be choosers!

    Regards,
    Sean Robert Abbey
