hey everyone...
i was just wondering if anyone's checked out the Moulin Rouge DVD.
way back when... we were hoping that craig armstrong's score -- the stuff we wanted on a cd earlier -- would be on the DVD.
does anyone know if we'll be able to hear his well-awaited score???my fingers are definately crossed.

Well, if you can't wait until February then you can always just buy the DVD.... it's not isolated or anything, but it's in the film!Dan

Or then you can go the the movie theater's first row and enjoy the music and all the beauty & the emotion of the MOULIN ROUGE without anyone blocking your view or munching popcorn next to your ear. That's what I heard *someone* did... (for 6th and the 7th times)...

Seriously, I got a promo recording that was titled "Craig Armstrong's Original Score" - and it was an immense disappointment; most of the songs were the exact same RE-RECORDINGS as on the commercial release; AND, still no sign of "Spectacular, Spectacular", "Like a Virgin", "The Show Must Go On", and that 'Absinthe Song Medley'; many of the most extraordinary score cues were not included. A Real Pity - because ALL the authentic music of MR really SHOULD be released, including the Overture, End Credits, all the wonderful light-hearted background cues of the comedy scenes, plus all the dramatic orchestral turbulence of the climax.
We really deserve a 2-CD official release of all of this !!
Atleast I would pay for it.

Ken,Is this the CD you're talking about? While it doesn't include many of the songs you mentioned, it does include a reasonable bit of Armstrong's score.
I do know that many of the other songs ("Like a Virgin", "The Show Must Go On", etc.) as well as score from the film (including the End Credits) will be released on the new album coming out in February.
Also, it should be noted that Armstrong was NOT the only composer on the film, although he was the lead composer. Other composers included Chris Elliot, Steve Hitchcock, and even Music Supervisor Marius DeVries.

Hey guys, I just put together a cd of the songs from the film taken directly from the dvd. It is the first time I've done something like this, but I figured that our chances of having a cd release of the songs "as heard in the film" were pretty slim (although this 2nd disc thingy sounds promising). Let me know if you would like this.It contains all the songs (except Hindi Sad Diamonds, Come What May (Album ver.), and Satine's Theme). It DOES have:
Opening
Absinthe song (Sound of music)
The Can-Can
Diamond's Are A Girl's Best Friend
Your Song
Emergency Rehearsal (Spectacular, Spectacular)
One Day I'll Fly Away
Elephnat Love Medley
Like A Virgin
Come What May (movie ver. part 1)
Le Tango De Roxanne
Fool To Believe
The Show Must Go On
Come What May (part. 2)
Coup D'Etat
the last scene of E.M typing "The End"
End Titlesplus some musical cues from the promo. All placed in the film's order.
Of course, since it's from the dvd there are your un-avoidable sfx and dialogue instances.....but I think it sounds fine. It's, at least, something to tide me over till Feb!
If anyone wants to trade this, lemme know.

Yes, Dan - that's indeed the album that doesn't deserve its "promo" title...
(- although it DOES include Armstrong's score, but doesn't impress as a wholeness).Johnnyecks, I hope you have received my e-mail........

If anyone wants the promo, be sure not to get it from Scott Bogle (sbogleus@yahoo.com). Takes money and runs. Beware!
