First off, a little history:
Released in the Spring of 1993 by 20th Century Fox, "The Sandlot" told the story of Scotty Smalls (Tom Guiry), an awkward young boy who ends up befriending a group of boys who like to play baseball. Eventually, they have to retrieve a priceless baseball (signed by Babe Ruth) from the clutches of a fabled monster dog. Set during the summer of 1962 (as was Joe Dante's "Matinee", released the same year), this entertaining film was directed and co-scripted by David Mickey Evans. The film featured a multi-textured score by David Newman that utilized orchestra, electronics, blues guitar and occasional big-band elements. The score (as heard in the film) runs 61 minutes. The Soundtrack Library boot, however, only features 3/4 of the score. Gone are the blues elements, as well as a hilarious quote from Goldsmith's score in "The 'burbs".
First of all, avoid the SL boot. If it's offered to you or you feel like getting it, don't do it.
Second, I say that we start a movement to get the full score released. Hopefully, Varese or Intrada will step up to the plate (pun intended). I mention these two labels because:
Varese - Recently released a Club CD featuring 70 minutes of music from James Horner's "Project X".
Intrada - Recently released a Special Collection CD from another forgotten '93 Fox film - "Jack the Bear" by James Horner.Just share with me your thoughts on the score (if any) and the film, if you like.

Sandlot, I have this score, about 30 min of it. Its fun but I'd like to see Newmans' scores to Paradise, Matilda and Brave Little Toaster released first.

But, Tim, the thing you need to consider is that those other boots you mentioned are more or less complete. In my personal experience, despite the rare title ("Outbreak" complete), there is no such thing as a complete boot. There is always one cue missing, but we're talking 25% of the score that's been left off. After watching the film, I've concocted a track listing that SuperTracks could employ for another David Newman promo; it's about high time they released one of his older scores, anyway. Here it is:
1. Main Titles (1:36)*
2. Scotty and Bill (0:58)**
3. Mom Talks to Scotty (1:26)
4. Playing Catch (1:34)
5. Scotty Meets the Team (2:36)** ***
6. Benny's Pep Talk (1:28)*
7. Scotty Makes a Catch (1:12)
8. Ham Hits a Homer (1:23)
9. What's on the Other Side? (1:38)**
10. The Legend of the Beast (3:19)**
11. Wendy Peffercorn (3:14)
12. Winning the Game (1:18)
13. Man of the House (0:24)
14. One Ball, No Skin (1:27)
15. The Mistake and the Hit (1:00)**
16. The Beast Has the Ball (0:56)
17. The Stick and the Pot (1:54)
18. Desperately Seeking Suction (2:13)
19. The Aerial Assault (1:55)
20. Science vs. Nature (3:05)***
21. Benny and the Babe (1:37)*
22. Benny Goes Over (2:02)***
23. Benny vs. the Beast (1:32)
24. Running of the Beast (2:43)** ***
25. Rescuing the Beast (2:09)** ***
26. Mr. Mertle/Where Are They Now?/Benny the Jet (5:58)**** - not on the SL boot
** - two cues (from the film) were combined
*** - abridged and/or altered on the bootI had read on another board that the score was recorded in Utah, but the person may have been confused since the film was shot in Utah and Newman did much of the score at home (according to an unpublished FSM article). In any event, this score deserves a better presentation than it received. (and no, I will not give in to the "it's a David Newman score, so I should be thankful it was released at all" theory. Not this time.)

I wasn't refering to "complete scores". Just good scores that I wished were released.

Considering that the Super Tracks Music Group have released Galaxy Quest and Brokedown Palace in the past, we need to keep our fingers crossed that THEY can come through.but I suspect these scores are just expensive as hell to release.
I'd be all for those scores to get out, as well as a complete edition of Operation Dumbo Drop.
David Newman is one of the best composers out there, and newer his stuff always gets the shaft.
