According to FSM the Belgian label Prometheus will release the complete score of Flesh+Blood.

If that ain't the best news in months I don't know. I can't wait to get my hands on that one!!!

So in other words, they're doing what the Varese Club edition should have done in the first place.

Easy. Varese made a deal way back when that allowed them to do a limited release of the score. So, their license is up. No one said someone else couldn't go in and pay to release it again - it just couldn't be Varese.

    Dear Iegs:

As far as I know, it's going to be available at Screen Archives Entertainment: www.screenarchivesentertainment.com.

I just searched Screen Archives' website, and there's no mention of it. Though there's no mention of it on Prometheus's own werbsite, you might want to check it out yourselves:

OK, lets see The 'burbs next, Prometheus!

I'm glad to see that the film score community is large enough to absorb all of these new discs (I hope.) Personally it's slightly painful, since my "want" list is growing exponentially!

This super news. This Poldouris second best score, CONAN is of course his masterpiece. Now if someone would release a widescreen DVD of this movie, I was lucky to see it in a theatre and all video versions so far have been pan & scan crap.I love this score.

I think they're working on a special edition DVD of FLESH AND BLOOD, since most of Verhoeven's films are getting the SE treatment.... I know that a ROBOCOP SE and new STARSHIP TROOPERS SE will be out in 2002...

It's gotta be the Swarm, Pete.....the clue is too obvious, and since Goldsmith's catalogue is really dwindling...what else could it be?

Our boots will be worthless, which is fine, except I managed to bad a really nice 'reconstruction' running 78mins. a year ago...hope the new one measures up! That film has a hell of a lot of music in it!!!

How many missing major Goldsmith scores are there? Are there really any unreleased/OOP major Goldsmith scores? Or will this be an expanded version of an available score?

The Swarm has been incarnated as:

    a 34min. Warner LP re-recording
a 65min. Soundtrack Libarary cdr w/piss poor sound
a 78min. boot with awesome sound
an 85min. 2cdr set of the sessions, with great sound, out of sequence, no titles.

I hope, if the Prometheus cd is The Swarm, it's mixed from the original tapes at Warners(no one has stated if these are even still in existance), and complete as can be

As for missing 'Jerries'....there are some things that should be fixed, Freud, The Salamander, Masada, Adrian Messenger, things like that....who knows what mumbo jumbo is holding them up, or what the state of the tapes are, but those are a few that come to mind...most of his work already exists, sadly enough, on bootlegs, but that hasn't deterred labels from 'making things right'(e.g. The Stripper, Morituri,Rio Lobo).

Keep up the good work gang!

The point is: How do they define "major score"? Many labels seem to use that term for scores for big hit movies, excluding great important scores for not so successful films. If this is their definition, the only one that comes to my mind right now is...Alien?

I agree that the clue was super-obvious. This should be interesting.

As for major Goldsmith scores, I'd like to see:

    - a release of "I.Q." (true, it's not a major score, but so what?)

as well as expanded or complete versions of:

    - "The Shadow"
    - "Small Soldiers"

Just came across the tracklisting for Flesh + Blood.

    1. Main Title
    2. Siege Of The City
    3. Courtship And Mandrake
    4. Wagon Attack
    5. Martin & Agnes Love Theme
    6. Castle Invasion
    7. Night Fires
    8. The Box
    9. Water (The Undoing)
    10. Arnolfini Assault
    11. Denoument/EndTitles
    BONUS TRACKS
    12. The Box (Edited Version)
    13. St. Martin Leads the Way
    14. Driven From The City
    15. Cask & St. Martin
    17. Assault On Agnes
    18. The Feast
    19. The Locket
    20. Out Of The Well
    21. Denoument/End Title (Alt.)

Nice. Although its perhaps a shame that the new tracks are just stuck on the end, rather than put in some sort of cleverer order.

Well, many times the producers of an expanded album might choose to replicate the original release sequencing, and add any additional material afterwards - and this is such a case.

That way, it's like owning the Varese release - but with more stuff! (Kinda like they did with THE LIVING DAYLIGHTS on Ryko, for those who remember it....)

True. But I generally prefer it when the new stuff is mixed, like The Omen, for example. Still, at least with CD players you can easily program it to do either, no matter what the ordering is.

Yeah - also, I think that there might be a sound quality difference between the bonus tracks and the "original album" tracks - making a merger of the two sound somewhat disparate. That might be a reason to seperate them out...

Aaaah. Well, in that case it makes sense to dump them at the end. Although I hope the booklet will list the film order, so I can be clever with my CD programmer. Well, I have to have something to do now the TV's bust.

Well I see Screen Archives site lists "The Swarm" as coming in Sept. from Prometheus and while this wasn't a big surprise to me I was excited to see that they are also doing "The Package" by James Newton Howard and "Blow Out" by Pino Donaggio.

(see Dan...I used the search engine to find an apporpriate thread for this. I hope you are pleased.)

    Kudos to ya James

I'm doing backflips over here for BLOW OUT.....the various boots of this suck big time, and besides my copy has been badly scratched for over 2 years

I hear people dig The Package....can anyone explain what it's like? Sounds like Off Limits 2 to me

Knew the Swarm was coming, another bootie bites el dusto, which is cool with me. One of the ever shrinking JG scores that everyone needs to hear, glad it's bowing on cd, legally, at last.

    Have a great weekend all!

The Package is a very significant score for JNH. It's right around the time he started shifting from electronics to orchestral scoring. It's a nice blend of the two. Also, this is the first time he worked with Andy Davis. The other two collaborations were The Fugitive and A Perfect Murder.
