Some of you may already know this. My brother told me to type my
name into the Google Search Engine. I found a few expected items;
however, I was very surprised to see that some of my comments (not
my favorite comments
) from Moviemusic.com and the FSM Board were
listed at this site. I wonder why? If you use your name, try it. Yeah,
I found comments from Rutherford, Winfrey, Kinsinger, and Goldberg so far.
Not sure if it shows “unique” monikers or first names only. I certainly think
we should be paid a commission for reprinting on the Web our
FFMW. (Fabulous Film Music Writings.) (Or at least PeterK should
get a cut.

I think even monikers work. I typed in "Timmer moviemusic.com" and found his posts as well as his reaction to the Wrath of Thor's posts.
(You'd think they'd at least mention his famous American adopted mom.

Interesting. I'd never done that before. Under 'Louis Goldberg' was listed a few posts I made to the Rara-Avis board about vintage paperbacks. Under 'Lou Goldberg' was a posting I'd made to The Rozsa Forum and my member's page from MM.com. I couldn't find any other comments or posts I'd made to the MM board though.

Wow! That's a shocker. Both moniker and full name gives rather complete results, doesn't it then? For the most part anyway.

Invasion of privacy! That's what I call it! Invasion of privacy! Let's sue Google!(except all the posts were taken from publicly viewable message boards, so we chose to put our names out there, but we can still sue 'em, right?

my name pops up a few times, including a OLD review I wrote at my old website for a John Williams score (never been able to access the page though).A family member found my profile here and thought I was completely serious about everything in it.

Yeah, I found me the sculptor, me the education professor (I'm not one yet, but I may be one in a couple of years, which means I'm going to get confused with me all the time), me the astonomer, me the Disneyland ride troubleshooter, and oh yeah, me the waste water sewage treatment engineer.Boy, I must keep really busy!
Oh yeah, it also shows me on MovieMusic.com.

Over the years, I have found my name and some of the things I wrote sometimes at other websites. I have even found comments I wrote originally on Moviemusic.com or Film Score Monthly.com printed elsewhere as review on other websites. But I can say I've felt flattered rather than outraged, since as far as I noticed it, it was done mentioning my name as well as the source where it was taken from. So I usually think "what the heck", that's fine with me. I would get annoyed if somebody would take something I wrote without mentioning the source -- or worse -- claiming it as own creation, but as long as the source gets mentioned I don't have much of a problem with it. Ah, the 80s ruled! I'll have to drop by and see you there when I'm down in Texas again...but that hasn't been since I left in 1989!
Awhile back I found out about another Michael Javorka who is a photographer in Montana. In fact, there's even a http://www.michaeljavorka.com ! No that's not me, even though it's my name. I tried writing to the contact email address but it bounced back.

I wonder why some of the message board threads show up while others don't. The search engine's robots must browse the boards, but they don't seem to do it very carefully.

Marian, they do it carefully, you betcha. Googlebot doesn't index .cgi pages (where all the links to the .html discussion pages are), so the only discussions to show up in Google are those directly linked to from outside sources.Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to find out what website out there is linking to "Should John Williams Retire?" and "Pearl Harbor Score - Track List" - the only two threads appearing in Google.
Good luck! This message will self-destruct in fi..... fish chips?

I'm already married. Twice. I'm also a coach, a nuclear scientist, a photo journalist, and a guy who died in 1855 whose place of burial is unknown. My age is likewise unknown.Number 9 on the list was actually me-- but not at Moviemusic. It was at Tracksounds.

I don't know how Google does it, but I find that they seem to get all the pages that are at FSC. It's most likely they follow the links from the bigger sites directly with their webcrawler, then it's like a domino effect from there.
BTW Sean, your listings will change soon. I will have to completely change all the URL' to those pages to the new server's location. Oh well, it shouldn't be too much trouble!
