Hey, was Herrmann a hardcore person?

Well, I wouldn't say he was hardcore, but he certainly didn't always use the nicest words.

Did Marian mean that all the Herrmann scores are so violent that the films they accompany immediately become PG or worse or that Herrmann had a fowl mouth? Herrmann did a lot of complaining but I didn't think he swore that much. As for X-rated Herrmann, a film that Martin Scorsese edited in 1969 used Herrmann library cues and had lots of sex scenes.

All I can say is that Coil is cool.

Coil came out from the "ashes" of Throbbing Gristle and Psychic Tv, they are considered as the most important or one of the most important electronic bands of the 80's-90's and their music reminds very much music for soundtracks of horror music and generally cinema-music.

He complained in a very direct way, so I classified it as swearing.

About Coil and Hellraiser: Clive Barker had initially wanted the band to score the first film which he directed, but I believe one of his producers suggested going for a more orchestral approach via composer Christopher Young. I, for one, am glad he did, because I love Young's work on the first two Hellraiser films. They set a particularly unnerving tone that no metal band could possibly achieve.

It is pretty well known that Herrmann had an irritable personality who didn't hold back in the way he expressed himself either.

Herrmann was from New York - 'nuff said. His foul-mouthedness was legendary, and if you scan the many tribute pages dedicated to him carefully I'm sure you'll find plenty of juicy examples.

God bless people like Herrmann who say what's on their mind, rather than fake their way through life.
