Has anyone payed any attention to Graeme Revell's music when watching the movies Child's Play 2 and BATS?

Child's Play 2 has some of the greatest music I've ever heard in a horror movie. Especially the main title theme.

BATS has a genuinely frigtening score actually. Alot of people hated this movie, but I really liked it for what it was.

I think once I get a cd burner for my new computer I'm going to make a CD-R of the isolated score that comes with the BATS dvd.

As far as the Child's Play 2 score goes, I wouldn't know how to make a CD-R of that one. Sadly.

I haven't really heard much of Graeme's work except for a select few(Tomb Raider, Red Planet). What score would you recommend as a introduction into his works?

Intro to Revell: Red Planet. Score as presented on CD is pretty bad, but the songs he wrote are nice.
Otherwise, maybe The Siege or The Negotiator.

Graeme is crackers? I don't know, but apparently he once worked as a psychiatric nurse in Australia.

Yeah - he mentioned that when I interviewed him (it's not in the published interview, if I remember correctly). Very interesting stuff...

Nice guy, too!

I would deffinitly recommend listening to the score while watching 'Child's Play 2'.

The main title sequence was great and Graeme Revell did a great eerie job with the music.
I loved the way he had the strings sound, it's unexplainable.

I also love "Child's Play 2". It's a pity that the score was never released. If a CD existed that featured (at least) the main title, I'd get it in a heartbeat.

Another score worth checking out:
Street Fighter

Some scores that have never been released:
Ghost in the Machine
Idle Hands
Spawn

I'd love to have these.

I agree, Revell's score to Child's Play 2is pretty good, especially in film. As far as recommending which score to listen to first of his, it's hard to say... The Saint is solid enough, with some very nice Zimmer-esque action cues and Barry-esque romantic portions, but as a whole it's still pretty inconsistant. I probably enjoy Red Planet more than any of his other works, but it too is so inconsistant it's hard to recommend.

NP: From Hell [Jones]... Lovely theme, shame about the rest (nothing bad, but a tad boring)

I've always rather liked his scores to two pretty awful movies: BODY OF EVIDENCE and THE HAND THAT ROCKS THE CRADLE.

NP: DEEP RISING (Jerry Goldsmith)

I just wish they would release his score to Anne Frank. There have been rumors of a promo ever since it aired in May but now it seems like there is no chance in hell that I'll ever aquire a copy of this score.

RED PLANET is corking stuff even though it plays more like an Ambient,New Age, Rock/Pop type album, unfortunately there are some really great cues by Revell left off this album from the 'mostly awful but great cinematography' film!

Great to look at, just don't listen to the abysmal dialogue

When talking about GR, I always want to put a plug in for his wonderful score for Until The End of The World. Majestyx has a boot of it that is well worth acquiring.

You can't get much more ethereal than The Crow. That one is a keeper.

Pitch Black is pretty good. Very underrated though. You ask anyone and they'll say to get the regular release. I didn't listen and got the complete.

Yes, I dialoge was pretty bad in Red Planet. The music was pretty good at times. If I remember correctly, when the ship get to Mars there is some good scoring. Otherwuse the film was just good to look at. The special effects looked good and Carrie-Anne looked good!

I haven't seen Red Planet. I want to, but I just haven't yet.

It doesn't take TOO much to appeal to me, but it has to be somewhat entertaining.

Take BATS for example. Everyone hated it but I actually loved it. It was a movie about killer bats and killer bats is what I got. And as a bonus it had a score that was truly amazing. If you have the DVD then turn it to the isolated score then go to the scene where all the bats in the cave wake up and start flying out of the cave. Revell does some darn amazing stuff, you have to hear it.
Especially the way he has the choir roaring and a cool upbeat sound. It' truly unique.

Darn, I need to get a cd-burner so I can make a cd-r of this one!
