Well, it's about a guy and a monkey.
Oh - the score?? Well, it's not Horner's best, but it's not too bad... CD should be good enough to consider getting.

It's a typical 70+ min. Horner score. So probably complete. I remember liking the movie, but don't really remember the music.

Can't remember too well, Jeron, but I think some scenes have music very like Brainstorm.

Typical Horner. Good score in movie. Long string passages over Hornerian background noise. Can't remember four note trumpet motif, but it's got to be there somewhere. I wanted score when I saw movie on TV a few months back. Learned that there was none. Was sad. Now I'm happy. Typical Horner.

He reused the theme/motif-thing from Project X (in part) in Mighty Joe Young. Since then, talk about this score has been pretty silent. He also reuses the Gayne ballet music that he ripped off in Aliens. In fact, this version of it sounds just like Aliens. Try telling the difference between them!

The strange thing is that part of me wants this. Nostalgia, I guess.

WAHOOO! Man- good things come to those who wait! This is one of my top 5 favorites by Horner... This score comes in his best time period next to Willow, American Tail, Land Before Time, etc.... He wrote such a heart-felt theme for the chimp in the film. The theme symbolized the chimps yearning to fly, and freedom, I guess.... Yeah, there are a couple rip offs from other scores, but this score was written fairly early in his career, so it's ok. Man, I don't think I ever ripped my card from my wallet and typed in the number as fast a I did when I first read this was there release- my fingers hurt. Of yeah, and Williams Heartbeeps- need I say more?????

I still insist that the best Horner score is Jumanji. That's the one! If I had to take one Horner score with me to a desert island, that'd be it.In the case of Project X, just tell me which cues from his other scores to program. I'll approximate it and save myself $25.

I actually saw this awful film in a theater. I can't say the music impressed me much at the time, then again other than "Glory" or "Willow" I can't say it impressed me much before.
