I got today the CD of Not Of This Earth and
I just want more Ronald Stein.
This is an old Varese and comes with suites of:Attack Of The 50 Ft.Woman
The Terror
Dementia 13
Not Of This Earth
Attack Of The Crab Monsters
The Devil's Partner
Spider Baby.I dont know if it'sa a re-recording but the sound is superb.
The last track is the song from spider baby sung by Lon Chaney!
Spoken would be more acurate, but is fun to
hear Ronal Stein sayiong "Keep Rolling, Take Two"The perfect companion to the MMM and the Percepto releases.
I didn't get the las one Yet.
(Is travelling in the mail!)Dementia 13 has a resemblance with I bury the living/Fried indeed!
Definetly the harspichord is a menacing instrument in the hands of certain skilled composers.posted 10-24-2001 10:59 PM PT (US)

You've got to pick up The Haunted Palace/Premature Burial on Percepto Records. They also issued a second Stein CD but I don't have that as yet. Taylor White over at Percepto plans a 3rd Stein CD with music from Dinosaurus and The Ghost of Dragstrip Hollow. He delayed his Addams Family TV CD because he's still looking for some missing cues. Soon he plans to issue Vic Mizzy's score to The Night Walker which is tremendous and is something you might like.

Ronald Stein was a genius! I have The Haunted Palace/ Premature Burial, and it has a very "polished" sound to my ears. I haven't got the compilation you mention, Marcelo, but I have the feeling that it may be more "cheesy" than his later scores, know what I mean?I like cheese as well as polish, but am I right in my assumption about Not Of This Earth etc?

To Lou:
Yes, I have the premature burial/Haunted palace CD.
I got the videos after hgearing the scores! To Graham:
Yes, in general is more cheesy, except for
The Terror that is in more or less in the Haunted Patace style.
That's my prefered one from this CD.posted 10-25-2001 04:07 PM PT (US)

Right, Marcelo. I imagined that The Terror would smell less of cheese than the 50s SF stuff (though they were all zero budgeted).Anyone remember Ronald Stein's score for the late 60s Coppola film The Rain People? Monothematic, but brilliantly haunting (or hauntingly brilliant).

Also, Stein's scores to INVASION OF THE SAUCER MEN / IT CONQUERED THE WORLD were recently released by Percepto Records.Dan
