Raoul Kraushaar died at the age of 93 in Florida. He was a conductor and arranger of film music. Like Alexander Lazlo, he developed a music library. He started work in the late 30s for Republic Pictures and may have composed cues that he later recycled. One such cue is on one of the James King albums of Republic music. But it seems he also took composer credit for a large number of film scores not composed by him. The most famous of these is the 50s version of Invaders From Mars which was composed by Mort Glickman but signed by Kraushaar. Kraushaar also signed Fritz Lang's wonderful noir The Blue Gardinia, Tay Garnet's The Delta Factor, Byron Haskin's September Storm, and Curt Siodmak's Bride of the Gorilla. Kraushaar also signed the theme to the Lassie TV series which was probably composed uncredited by Les Baxter.

Lou, you've obviously been talking to the late (I hope not) great Tom Scofield! Lassie with music by Les Baxter? You'll be telling me next that Baxter did the theme for The Flintstones, or ET!What's that about Kraushaar not doing Invaders From Mars? Didn't we read that it wasn't him or Mort Glickman either? Who the herile DID it?
Anyway, rest in peace, Raul Kraushaar.
By the way, I've just remembered, wasn't there some use of Dee Do Dee, Dee Do Dee, Dee Do Dee Deeriloo Tee Dee, And It Sweeps As It Creeps As It Cleans in some of Invaders Fro Mars tanky military scenes? That music was terrible!

Whether he was a composer or not, RK was certainly a conductor and arranger (kind of like Horner). He was associated with B and C product that was matched with B and C scoring. I imagine most of the RK library is awful but it must have provided enough royalties--the guys name wasn't on anything post 1975, so I presume he was retired for 26 years.
