Does anyone agree with me that this was one of the most annoying scores ever written. It just really gets on my nerves.

Heck no, it rocks!!!

One of the best Christmas scores I've ever heard, definitely one worth playing repeatedly during the season...

It also helped make the film the classic it was.

While the film was a phenomenal success, and is still a rather popular family film, I don't think it's a "classic".

But that's just my opinion.

C'mon, you can't have a fun holiday with out the score or movie!

The first one is classic! And the second one is just fun.

Despite some charming thematic material from Williams, I've really never been sold on this score either, sorry guys.

It's not annoying and Star of Bethlehem is quite inspiring but the rest is all mickey mousery to the highest degree. I haven't listened to it in years.

Still, Williams got an Academy Award nomination for it. He didn't do much else that year so I guess they had to nominate him for something.

Actually, surprisingly, even I regard the original HOME ALONE score being "annoying" in some parts - especially the latter half of "Man of the House" and the cues "Scammed by a Kindergartner" and "Follow That Kid" are simply "disgusting" music on their own, although they fit in the movie most perfectly.

BUT rest of the stuff, like the "Main Title", "Holiday Flight", "Somewhere In My Memory" (& its use in the orchestral score) and "The Attack on the House" are simply terrific pieces by Williams. Initially I was shocked when John Barry took the Oscar away by his "not-so-original" score to DANCES WITH WOLVES - Williams should've atleast won an Oscar for "Somewhere In My Memory"..!

Anyway, I prefer the score for HOME ALONE 2: LOST IN NEW YORK, because it is so much better as a wholeness and includes an overwhelming amount of Williams at his magical, festive best.

KEN

Home Alone is great. Home Alone 2 is even greater. My only complaint is that Somewhere in my Memory got the nomination - they should have picked the wonderful Star of Bethlehem instead.

Like much of Bruce Broughton's film work, Williams's Home Alone scores bring class to the kiddie flick market. Much of the music is tactful mickey-mousing, but Star of Bethlehem (which I prefer to Somewhere in My Memory) is one of Williams's finest melodies. (Broughton was originally slated to score Home Alone btw.)

NP: Jaws 2 (Williams!)

I'm assuming you mean best song nomination. if so then The Star of Bethlehem doesn't qualify. Easily the best thing in the score.
