Since it's not in the Reviews section, could someone provide an objective opinion on this score.

Objective Opinion? I'm not sure what that means.

I remember watching the movie, but I didn't remember much of the score after it was over.
I went ahead about the CD anyway, and was blown away by the first 5 seconds!
The main theme I think is the best that Trevor Jones has written yet! Then theres the action music which sounds huge! The love theme is shared with Dark City and works great. I definetly reccomend it!

I echo Tim's reply here. The score is wonderful. I haven't played it in a while, but it's definately a must-have, in my humble opinion.

If you put MERLIN on your buy list, you can put CLEOPATRA and THE MIGHTY (both by Trevor Jones) on that list as well.

I'd say all three of them belong to the 5-star-scores category.

Skip Gulliver's Travels though it's good just Cleopatra, Thirteen Days, and Merlin are MUCH better.

Well don't SKIP it. Just buy his other works (such as the list above) first.

I don't like The Mighty and I don't see what others see in it. I simply cannot stand to listen to that CD all the way through.

    Let the floggings begin.

Its alright that you don't like The Mighty Mr. JJ. He chose to go in a different direction with that score with the celtic meets country side stuff. I'm not too much a fan of the mix either, but the last 3 score tracks, come on you gotta love those! ***

How come noone has mentioned his romantic-comedy score for FOR ROSEANNA yet? Thats a pretty good Jones score as well. And I recomend it because its different from his usually style which is full of tension and darkness. With this score its much brighter, and has a great romantic theme. The score also has an Italian feel to it because of movie's setting. ****

Also don't forget DARK CITY! Its not an all song soundtrack as many people keep preaching to me! There is about 35 min of score here. The short main action motif is exciting and the action is great! The score is very dark and gothic and I know some say it all electronic, but that not true! Under the elctronics is a 112 peice orchestra, which will blow your socks in the 12 min finale "You Have The Power". ***½

There is also another one called DESPERATE MEASURES, now this one is not that popular. It sounds way too simular to DARK CITY and the theme is very weak. But the action is pretty much an extention DARK CITY and thats why I like it. But only go for DESERTATE MEASURES after hearing DARK CITY first! **

As for GULLIVER'S TRAVELS....well this is really the only one I don't like. Personally I find this one to be wierd. For an comedy adventure this score is way too dark! I've never see the movie, so I assume theres something evil lurking in it. The main theme wich is heard way too much is really alot of nothing as with the rest of the score. Its all a mix of electrontics and orchestra building tension. There are some bright moments but they are very few an uninteresting. The CD is also really long! over 75 min! And I've never been able to sit through the whole thing with out falling asleep. I don't know what happened with this one. I know Jones has great potential for a movie like this, I'm going to assume that the producers asked him for something different, and he didn't understand or it was just a stupid idea to begin with *
