AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRGH !!!I happen to love the American way of celebrating Halloween, because it makes spooky stuff FUN. For the background music of Halloween parties there happens to be a wealth of film music possibilities - Danny Elfman being the first one popping into my mind with his spooky-fun themes from BEETLEJUICE, THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS and TALES FROM THE CRYPT (although it's from TV).
By the way, have you ever noticed that some of the most classic horror themes are waltzes ? They are possibilities for more elegant Halloweenish background music.
So, what are your film music favorites for Halloween ? Should the music be truly scary or this kind of spooky-fun ? Comments ?!
Although this Halloween I'm probably going to play only "Merrily on High Tower Orlochless" and "Melody for the Tower of Orlochless" composed by my sister for a Finnish amusement park attraction.posted 10-05-2001 03:42 PM PT (US)

Kilar's BRAM STOKER'S DRACULA is a great one to play around Halloween.... also, a little bit of Saint-Saëns's Dance Macabre to put ya in the mood.Dan

Yeah, Ken! The music for the Tower of Orlochless. More organs!I agree, Bram Stoker's Dracula is a good one, but there really is something spooky about playing a classic like Halloween on Halloween night, all cheesey "hey that didn't take much thought" aside.
If you want to really freak out the kids, play some Exorcist or the synth versions of classical music as heard on the Clockwork Orange soundtrack.
In celebration, though, I think everyone should give the expanded The Omen and The Final Conflict a few spins. Either that or The Dentist/The Dentist II soundtrack.... wink wink.

May I say something...UUURRRRLLLRRGGHHHAARRRLLHHYYYYUUCCKKHHH !!!
That's my honest (EDITED) opinion about Kilar's BRAM STOKER'S DRACULA. Even THE EXORCIST soundtrack's "Boring Pieces with Clink, Clank, Clonk, and Bazookas for Orchestra" are better choices.
However, Saint-Saëns' DANSE MACABRE is a great piece !!
Honestly,
KENps. OH, THAT'S WHY these sometimes turn to widescreen

You know, I have an old tradition that goes back years, and I follow it still.I don't listen to any sort of classical or film music.
I listen to The Mercury Theater's production of War of The Worlds.

Ken, could you shorten your URLRGHARLHYUCKH so that it doesn't make the whole thread widescreen? Thanx....and when that is accomplished, we'll start working on Dracula, ok?
