Anyone know if Drew Struzan painted that image? (he did star wars, indiana jones, hook, BTTF, and lots of other awesome posters!)

    He's my favorite artist :-)

Ugh, cheesy indeed. Still, at least it's a film poster and not one of those stupid "sheets with actor's faces on it" like we usually get them these days.

I hope there's a 2CD set with the Hogwarts castle poster as a cover coming out soon, or a boot for which we can make our own covers.

Cheesy? Too crowded? Everyone is a critic these days.

The cover is awesome if you ask me. In fact, anyone who doesn't think this is a great piece of art is just...just...well, you know!

btw, Marian: 2CDs for the very first score album? Whenever have you seen that happen? I mean, it would be totally awesome if they did, but I mean, hello?

Here I am again, bitching about how I liked the "teaser" art more. This isn't f--king Star Wars. This is good. Why they feel the need to make it look like Star Wars is frustrating.

Yeah, but these guys talk about it as if it's going to ruin their "listening experience." I mean, come on... it is what it is. It holds no bearing on what the cd will hold. We know what it looks like, now... let's move on. LOL.

While I am a BIG FAN of Drew Struzan, I must admit that I preferred the "teaser" cover art. It felt much more mysterious and evocative, as if the image was drawing you in.

    Great explanation, Wedge.

Jeron, the poster art looking cliche will not ruin my listening experience (Shawn Murphy will probably help out in that department; why can't Dennis Sands record MORE Williams stuff?), but it sure doesn't try and separate Harry Potter the FILM from the rest of the muck that's been so prevalent these last few years.

It looks Star Wars. More specifically, The Phantom Menace, with its headache-inducing over-abundance of characters fit onto a one-sheet. And that's not something I'd want to be compared to, if I were Warner Bros (yes, I know that TPM made a shitload of money, but it totally sucked ass and created an even bigger fan backlash that Jedi).

Ah, nevermind. Puff Daddy was right. It really WAS all about the benjamins (it's all about the benjamins baby). And it still is.

    Bring back the 70s!

    Shaun

Shaun, I agree, the new art looks too Star Wars-ish. If you take a look at my posts, I never say whether I actually like it or not. I'm just sayin'... don't we have better things to talk about than cover art? ::shrugs::

Therefore, any type of discussion that contains opinions pertaining to the cover art is totally justified.

I believe that the cover IS by Drew Struzan (who I'm also a fan of) based on the very faint signature at the bottom of the image.
And about comparing it to Star Wars: Drew has done the posters for the Star Wars, Indiana Jones, and Back to the Future trilogies, arguably the three best trilogies ever. If he's now dong Potter, I think it's safe to say that that makes the FOUR best trilogies ever . . .
(Although the new LOTR trailer kicked ass.)

Trilogy of four, that is. And if everything goes right, it will be increasingly inaccurately named, too.

As for LOTR, it's not really a trilogy. Yes, it's three movies, but just one story.
