This truly looks incredible. Is Shore really up for the task?

Considering Shore wrote a bunch of music for the Cannes preview, and he's still attached to the film (i.e. not FIRED), then I'd say, "yes, he's up for it!"

Why do people even doubt that Howard Shore can write a good or oustanding score for this film??? Personally, I think he's the perfect choice for this film; his compositions are very complex and have a deeper meaning to the films he scores (like The Cell or Existenz).

Wow, this certainly does look amazing... If there was ever a movie that looked to truly deserve the word "epic", this is it.As far as Shore is concerned, I haven't heard enough of his works to be excited about his upcoming score. I've heard a few, but nothing EPIC, like say Williams / Goldsmith / Horner is capable of

One more note, I didn't really like how they put Horner's Braveheart in the trailer, it seemed a bit cliche... On the other hand, I liked the choral piece at the end; What is this from?

With all this hype, this movie is going to suck. Just watch!

TimT's got it right. The trailers already look like all those cheap movies that can't afford good filmmaking materials and have to rely on second rate equipment.

There are three reasons why I'm looking forward to the Harry Potter film, and all three are equally thrilling to me:- The film
- The score
- The trailer before it
Autumn is going to be loong!

But I don't really think it looks cheesy. I actually like the look that it has.
I'm just saying that with all this fan based talk and disscusions about it, you all are just settings yourselfs up for a disopointment with all your high expectations.I remember the samething happened with Star Wars: TPM, we had freaks that had gotten themselves so hyped before the movie opened that they decided to camp outside my theater 2 days before the movie opened. And I remember after they saw it and I asked "How was it?" All they had to say was "Well...it was all right."

It's good to know there's some people who are really watching for us out there...Now you guys, listen to Tim and stop all this hype toward LORD OF THE RINGS! Otherwise you will all get disappointed.
I mean, geez, the score isn't even being composed by the Midi Venturers!posted 09-25-2001 09:46 PM PT (US)

I expect to be annoyed by a few, possibly several scenes. But from everything I've read about it, the thing as a whole will probably be better than I expect. Hell, even Arwen at the ford seems to be working quite well in the trailer, and that change is one of my major concerns for the film.

Looks cheap?Seriously, anybody who says that this film looks cheap needs to stop snorting their you know what...
I respect peoples opinions, but I think this film looking great visually is a fact and not an opinion.
The CG looks flawless (I can't get enough of that clip where they are fighting that orgre thing and Astin jumps through his legs), truly incredibly looking stuff.
Now I really don't get why people these days tend to claim "you shouldn't look forward to something so much, you'll just be disappointed"... I think this is blasphemy and utterly ridiculous. What's the point of even seeing movies if one can't look forward to them? I just don't see the logic. Sure, I was disappointed by Pearl Harbor, and it didn't feel good... Then again, the anticipation I had with something like Crouching Tiger was immensly satisfying because it was every bit as good as I'd hoped.

Just watched it again, and something occured to me: The ford at Rivendell looks exactly like the ford at Rivendell. So much that I didn't even think how accurate it looks before. It IS the ford, plain and simple.NP: Anton Bruckner: Symphony #8 (Kölner Rundfunk-Sinfonie-Orchester, Günter Wand)

Well sooorrryyy! Didn't mean to frustrate anyone.
But all the prints I've seen in theatres until now look like they were shot decades ago and sat somewhere collecting dust which got encrusted into the image itself.
That digital Gone with the Wind remastering thingy had a sharper looking image with better colours.

Well damn, I'd love to see it on the big screen, even if the picture quality isn't the best (the QuickTime movie looks excellent, but my computer is too slow to play it smoothly).NP: Anton Bruckner: Symphony #9 (Münchner Philharmoniker, Sergiu Celibidache)
