I've heard a little bit of it, and believe me, the theme is addictive. Extremely hummable. I'm anxious to get this one... it's great they decided to put out a disc for Powell's score.

    Agree with Jeron.

I've only heard the track off the commercial album, but damn is it fun! Much more so (if that seven minute suite represents the whole album) than Powell's Evolution, which was decidedly a mixed bag...

But poor Jeron, so sorry you have to be listening to Pitch Black

WHO is putting out a disc for Powell's score? I can't afford to buy the compilation for the sake of one score suite, but I'd consider a genuine score release.

Beyond Records is putting the score out; they also put out the soundtrack last month.

How long is it? It looks like a pretty good length.

I got it today and it's about 36 missing and my only complaint is that it's missing that wonderful rendition of the I Love Lucy theme which was incorporated into Powell's score at one point. But inside the album booklet it says additional music by James McKee Smith. I wonder what he wrote for the film. Nice album though, I'm glad it was released.

I picked up the album today and I love it!

This is just the kind of score you expect a goofy comedy like "Rat Race" to have. The main theme is so catchy. The track titles are pretty funny as well.

I noticed something in the score; it's more present on the album: in the scored scenes with Enrico Pollini (Rowan Atkinson), I notice an orchestral rendition of "Embrace Me, My Sweet Embracable You" (I don't know the actual title). Did anyone else notice this?

What is it with Media Ventures and long freaking names? Ah well, I guess he's just trying to separate himself from all of the James Smiths out there.

    A fun score indeed...

Though truthfully, I believe that if you've heard the lengthy suite on the original soundtrack, you've heard everything you need to.

I don't think they have long names... Harry Gregson-Williams, Nick Glennie-Smith (Whatever happened to him?), and then the names that I get confused are Jeff Rona and Jay Rifking cuz of their e-mail addresses.

So am I really the only one to notice this?

I got the CD more than a month ago. It seems to me that John finally got to write that orchestral he wanted to do. SBD, I don't know the song you're referring to so i can't really comment. Maybe you can point me to the specific track? That might clear something up for me

Well I just heard the entire score suite on the original album, and I think that it's great!! This really sounds like a goody. He's still better when parred with Harry Gregson Williams though.

The beginning of "Pollini Wakes" features the song. It's pretty funny, as well as inexplicable.

Also, I apologize for the outburst.

I have a question....that song at the beginning of the film during the credits....did Powell have a hand in writing it?

I don't have either the song CD or score CD, and was wondering if anyone knew. I like that song a lot (thinking it could be nominated for an Oscar too, if it was written for the film).
