Man, I would never have guessed that one! here's an easy one: What was Jerry Goldsmith's LAST purely orchestral score (no electronics) up until First Knight?

Musically-speaking, there are two things that connect THE POSEIDON ADVENTURE and THE TOWERING INFERNO. First one, naturally, is the John Williams score on both of them, but what is the second link..?

Well, Sean, you're right ALTHOUGH I've never known that "The Morning After" was to be included also on THE TOWERING INFERNO The song from TOWERING was "We May Never Love Like This Again", music and lyrics by AL KASHA & JOEL HIRSCHHORN (the same duo that wrote "The Morning After").BUT there is STILL one thing how these songs connect with each others - WHAT IS IT ???

Ken, The Morning After is heard in an instrumental version during a dinner scene in Inferno, and this instrumental take can be heard on the FSM Inferno disc The other connection...hmmm.....same singer, band, instrumentation in both songs? You got me there! NP ie Hard(Kamen) Sean

Well, Sean, since you have made SO MANY GOOD POINTS here - and a very very CLOSE one, too - I ease it by giving the answer here...Both of the songs were not only Academy Awards nominees, but also WON OSCARS - "The Morning After" 1972, "We May Never Love Like This Again" 1974. By the way, Sean, thanks for the information on TOWERING... I have never known or noticed that "The Morning After" is also included there - it could be regarded as quite an "inside joke"!!! D'oh! Well, I was close Good game though, thanks Ken! I'll have to try and come up with a question tonight.... It did seem like a sort of inside joke though, but hey if Allen and Williams had that cue lying around, and needed some party music......why not! I wonder if anyone caught it at the time of the film! FSM stated they added the instru. Morning After onto the Towering album, so all the music would be accounted for....the song did not fit on the Poseidon Adventure album they released. Best, Sean

Here's a hint: the common thread ties in with a 1991 credit of one of the composers. (The score was released on a very short CD.)

"FATHER OF THE BRIDE" David Newman married Shirley Walker and John Debney was revealed as Walker's father, and Alan Silvestri was Newman's bestman and furthermore he wrote the same year his most magical score for the remake of FATHER OF THE BRIDE. ...Now, should I also reveal what happened in Friday's episode of THE BALD AND THE BEAUTIFUL, starring John Williams and Jerry Goldsmith ? Seriously speaking, not a clue

Let me try it like this: fill in the blanks. The answer is in one of my posts._____ ______, ____ ______, _______ ______ and ____ _________ are all married. While you're noodling that, here's a new query: name the only composer to score a film and its remake.

Hm, I guess Herrmann's (adapted) score for Cape Fear doesn't count?

So, SBD, IS THE ANSWER that Debney, Newman, Walker and Silvestri ALL GOT MARRIED in 1991 ? Because, if that is not the answer, and even if it is, I'm totally confused about your other hints... FOUR WEDDINGS AND A FUNERAL..? ...What do you mean by the hint that 1991 movie title connects all of them ? I hope they are not ALL married with EACH OTHERS Wasn't my earlier answer atleast a "good try" ? KEN [Message edited by Ken S on 10-15-2001]
