Well, It looks like we folks in the U.K. are to be short changed once again when the Superman DVD is released next week. I've look through the Extra features list at the usual stores and guess what? No isolated score! Does anyone know for sure? Dan, where are ya Pal? The region 1 disc is a Region Enhanced Disc, so I dont think I'll take the chance on buying it. What a Bummer eh? Even though, I do have the complete soundtrack on CD, I was really looking forward to this release as I love watching the films with just the score playing to really get into the composers head and the art of scoring to visuals. Gae,I didn't know that the Region 2 Superman II DVD was even supposed to have an isolated score!!
The US version is just the movie and a trailer... nothing much to it....

Dan, Gae is talking about the DVD for the first Superman film.Gae: Can you set your DVD player's region code manually? On my player, I can choose if I want it to autmatically detect the correct region or if I want to set it to a fixed region code I choose. If your player can do this, it shouldn't have a problem with RCE discs.

D'oh!That's what I get for reading too quickly.
Also, I had just read an article about the Region 2 release of SUPERMAN II being delayed beause they had to redo the cover art.
Got my wires crossed.
Sorry!

Just thought I'd say, YIPPEE, I was wrong!!! I've just bought the "Superman/SupermanII" DVD in the U.K. (region 2) and it does have the "music only track"...excellent. It also has all the "alternate music cues" from the score on its own menu page. Its about time the film composer's contribution got the acknowlegement it deserves on certain "Classic score" movies such as this. The whole DVD presentation is superb and the movie has been digitally restored to how I remember it looking in the Cinema 23 years ago....Seems only like yesterday!!

The irony is, of course, that there is more music on the Rhino 2-CD set than in the isolated score/unused cues.

Thats o.k. dgoldwas, because I've got that CD too!!
Having a bit of a retro interest in film music at the moment. Still cant believe that "Superman:The Movie" is 23 years old. Just like at the premiere of "Star Wars", I still remember both of those opening "Main Titles" with John Williams pounding music, and feeling a shiver down my spine. Gae

The Super Man theme and score are the most discusting pieces of film music I have ever heard! It would have been a blessing if the DVD didn´t have this option. Don´t get me wrong I really enjoy Williams´ other scores but this is just sooooooo awful!
