Fellowship of the Rings simply because of the 300 man choir.

For me it's probably Zimmer's Spirit. Rarely does this guy fail to impress me (save Pearl Harbor), and I believe it was Jeron who said after hearing it a while back "it's gonna surprise a lot of people." Jeron sorry if I misquoted ya on that one, but I think it's somewhat similar to what you said.

I'm also looking forward to Williams' Harry Potter, Zimmer's Riding in the Cars With Boys, and Horner's Windtalkers (Actually I'm more interested in what Horner will do)... Oh yes, Horner's A Beautiful Mind too.

    NP: Memento

It's going to surprise a ton of folks, especially due to the fact Zimmer turned the entire project over to Steve Jablonsky early in the game. Apparently Hans had to get a jump start on Black Hawk Down, and Spirit was in conflict. So expect a unique, awesome score from one of MV's best kept secrets.

This may come as a surprise, but I'm really anxiously waiting for SPIDERMAN - I got "into" the world of Peter Parker ONLY about a year (or two) ago, and because I like the human "tragic quality" of the character, I'm really waiting for this movie version and Elfman's score with GROWING HORROR... If they do it wrong, it will be a disaster..(atleast for me).

I'm also looking forward to John Williams' HARRY POTTER, simply because I'd like to be convinced that Williams hasn't lost his touch - he should STOP growing up with his every score

Mine. But that's never going to happen.

Other than that, I don't think I care much.

According to the News section at Traxzone.com, Rhino is planning a double disc Mutiny on the Bounty for next year. So if there's something I'm looking forward to, that would be it.

Percepto was supposed to release a score (that I forgot the name of the movie) written by Ken Wannberg, Howard Blake and another composer (whose name I also forgot).

Adriano is doing another Marco Polo album: The Fall of Berlin. That's another I'm looking forward to.

But none of those are "new" scores.

I'm really looking forward to Blade 2. Hopefully maybe a bit more action orientated that the pure horror stuff Beltrami's done in the past. And of course, there's Lord of the Rings. And Spiderman. And Last Castle. I'm quite intrigued to hear what Debney's gonna come up with for The Scorpion King too...

NP CutThroat Island. Hardly ever listen to this, but it's quite fun really.

The small bits and pieces I've heard of Williams' Harry Potter score lead me to believe it will be one of the finest scores to come out in years...so I guess I'm anticipating that one the most...

...however, Windtalkers provides Horner yet another chance to jump out of his slump and that's always a good thing.

I'm not very familiar with Shore's work, so I can't say I'm as excited about Lord of the Rings as many people are...I'm adopting a "wait and see" attitude about that one

The Last Castle will no doubt be another Goldsmith Paint-by-Numbers bore-fest...but then again he may surprise us, so who knows?

The score I am most looking forward to is indeed The Fellowship of the Ring.

The Affair of the Necklace (D. Newman)
The Gangs of New York (Bernstein)
    The Shipping News (Young)
    The Royal Tenenbaums (Mothersbaugh)
    Human Nature (Revell)
    Spider-Man (Elfman)
    X-Men 2 (Ottman)
    Good Omens (no composer yet)

Fellowship of the Ring indeed. I've been looking forward to a LOTR score for years - long before I even knew that we would actualyl get one. Right behind on the list is of course Harry Potter. And I'm already eagerly awaiting the sequel scores for both, plus the next Star Wars and Matrix scores.

    NP: The Piano (Michael Nyman)

While on this topic, how about we discuss a bit what effect Williams's recent grueling schedule might have on his music? The man is always capable of great things, but we can also name scores that feel less than inspired.
My point is that I think his next STAR WARS score will be the less than inspired one of his upcoming output. He's been going strong for awhile now, straight from A.I. to HARRY POTTER on to EPISODE II and then into MINORITY REPORT. This is unusual for Williams, who normally scores 1-2 films a year.
I have a sense that HARRY POTTER and MINORITY REPORT will draw the best out of him, since they are fresh titles for him, something new to inspire him.
EPISODE II, on the other hand, is the fifth in that series. I have a feeling that he might be little weary of reworking his themes for the series and trying to find new inspiration from the STAR WARS film universe.
I could be totally wrong. And even uninspired Williams is worth owning, but I have a feeling that having the fifth in a series of films sandwiched in between two brand new projects might mean the familiar one gets shafted.
However, John Barry had a hot streak on his first six Bond films (FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE through DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER) and those are all winners, in my book.
    Any comments?

You mean there is something to look forward to....just kidding.

I am hoping there is more to look forward to in the next 3 months than "Harry Potter"--which should be marvelous. I am curious to see what "The Last Castle" may bring, but it will be more of the same.

I'm looking forward to Fellowship of the Ring as a film, not sure about the music yet.

I'm looking forward to potential surprises which don't seem to be on the lists yet.

Iīm really looking forward to Elfmanīs Spiderman score. Itīll be great to see how he handles a superheroe score now, with his more mature style of composition.
Iīm also anxiously awaiting Shoreīs Fellowship of the Ring. To be perfectly henest I would have prefered either Elfman or Kilar on the job, but thatīs just because Shore really hasnīt done anything like this before - Iīm certain he will give us something amazing.
Also, Harry Potter sounds like the perfect film for John Williams. Iīm hoping for something akin to Hook - only better!
