From SoundtrackMag.com<<Hans Zimmer's score to THE PLEDGE will be released on Milan Records. The Zimmer compilation that Milan had planned to release earlier this year has now been put off until sometime in 2002.>>
Was the score that good? I still have yet to see the film.
And bad news for "Shrek" fans
<<As we go to press Dreamworks has gone on record saying they have no plans to release a score album for the hit film SHREK.>>
Damn DreamWorks. I hate to say it but damn them, that CD could sell hella!

<<As we go to press Dreamworks has gone on record saying they have no plans to release a score album for the hit film SHREK.>>Dreamworks Records had consistently said (for the past 5 months) that they had no plans to release a score album to SHREK. I just assumed (incorrectly) that another label would put it out.
But if the STUDIO is saying that there won't be a score release, then.... well.... Hrmph.
(Of course, studios have been wrong in the past...)

Ohkay everybody, let join together, go to Dreamwork and lay the smackdown on the executive who made this decision.
What about a future Academy promo? That might happen!

Well this sucks.
As far as Zimmer's The Pledge score goes, it was effective in film, but I found no need to seek out a bootleg or anything (if there even was one); and keep in mind I'm a huge fan of Zimmer. It just didn't seem like the score that would make for an enjoyable listen out of context.NP: Serial Mom (Poledouris)

Now you're talking! What with the Annie Award nomination that the score has received (the first of many, I'm sure), an Academy promo is something of a certainty.
By the way, the Annie Awards are given to animated films.

I just saw the movie tonight. While the movie was okay, I thought the score was pretty awesome. I really hope it gets a score release, someone said in an earlier post a "rumor" said they might release a score along with the release of the video? That would be okay if it were true. Here are some of the clips I liked best:
Opening where Shrek is reading the book
Shrek sits down to eat
Shrek wakes Princess
Princess and bird sing
Donkey finds out Princess' secret
Princess transforms, bright light and fireposted 09-20-2001 09:28 PM PT (US)

A Shrek release would indeed be a great thing...but I'm starting to highly doubt the possibility.However...

Has anyone here heard of this "Music of John Powell" promo disc? Check out the info here:
http://www.soundtrack.net/soundtracks/database/?id=2989The CD (which as I understand is only distributed by Powell's agent(?)) contains the following cues from Shrek:
"Escape From The Dragon" - 1:56
"Big Awkward Moment" - :40
"Singing Princess" - 1:35
"Ride The Dragon" - 1:36So, good luck to anyone who goes after this one!

May I recommend trying Amazon.fr instead?
I seem to remember shipping is cheaper at Amazon.fr than at the FNAC.

The price is cheaper too not just the shipping. So if DreamWorks doesn't want to release Shrek then howcome Milan or Varese won't do it?

I'm surprised Varese didn't jump on this mack in May. The score is a cash crop IMO to who ever releases it.--Bri Guy

Didn't Varese Sarabande release Small Soldiers by Jerry Goldsmith? And Small Soldiers is owned by Dreamworks.

Man, talk about LATE!It's almost like Varese and their Deluxe Editions, which are always touted as being tied-in with the "recent" DVD release, but in reality, they're always a year or more off!

Your diligence is commendable, Greg Bryant, though Crono/Kyp's post-title seems to suffer the lack of a clear modifier:Milan Records to release The Pledge AND Shrek score news.
(Milan Records does not apply to both.)
