Oscar® Nominee

The first soundtrack awards will be given in Ghent (Belgium) later this year. I'm really lookin forward to this ceremony cuz it will be preceded with a double concert of Elmer Bernstein and Gabriel Yared.More information on the World Soundtrack Awards can be found on: http://www.worldsoundtrackawards.com
Being curious, who do you think will win the various awards?? This is my choise..
1)Soundtrack Composer of the year: Hans Zimmer
2)Best Original Soundtrack of the year (orchestral): Final Fantasy (Elliot Goldenthal)
3)Best Original Song written directly for a film: Pearl Harbor (There You'll Be - Faith Hill)
4)Best Score of the year not released on album: Kiss of the Dragon (Craig Armstrong)
5)Public Choise Award: Shrek (John Powell)The list can be found here! http://www.worldsoundtrackawards.com/pdf/soundtracks.pdf
Plz Vote and see who eventually will get the awards. Thx!

Interesting.I didn't think "For Always" would be eligible (at least, it's not eligible for Academy Award consideration) because it doesn't show up in the film at all, and therefore isn't "written FOR the film".
(Williams even acknowledges himself that the idea to turn his theme from AI into a song was more of an afterthought than a planned event.)
I also like how they list Craig Armstrong as a nominee for the "Discovery of the Year (Young Film Composer) award when he's been around for a few years... and isn't "young" (at least, age-wise).

Oops
Apparently, I've been wrong with the link, sorry! This would be the right one: http://www.worldsoundtrackawards.com/pdf/wsa_noms.pdf
(The other link was just for the nominations.)
so my final choise comes somewhat different...1) still remains Zimmer though
2) AI
3) Come what may
4) I'd go for Blow
5) still would love to see Shrek win

Other than the nominees, I don't care much. It's been a pretty bad year.
If I had to pick one soundtrack which I would call soundtrack of the year, it would be Holdridge's The Mists of Avalon.
[read interview with composer at http://www.filmmusic.com
]
Other than that, Coulais' The Crimson Rivers deserves a nod. As does Davey's Tailor of Panama.
Song of the year? Either For Always or The Dream Within.
Unreleased score? Antitrust.
New composer discovery? Don't know. Can't think of one.[Message edited by wistiti on 09-10-2001]
