Of the seventeen listed on the inside of the Treasure one, I have bought 14 of them.

    My favorites are:

Both Skinner and Salters-Esp. the Son of Frankenstein-super
Waxman's Objective Burma-that extra music is great and those fanfares are finally there.
    Steiner's Treasure of SM-good stuff
Steiner-They Died With Their Boots On-I love the Custer theme in this, and the Love Theme
Some of the Newman stuff is really good too
    and several others. Egyptian/Hunchback, etc.

The top favs for me are Objective Burma and Son of Frankenstein/tie. Great stuff. With some of the Steiners in there next. Hard to rate them actually. All are good.

What are you favorites so far? John.

Right off the top of my head I want to say The Roots of Heaven, but they did a great job on King Kong and Moby Dick as well. I wonder what John Morgan thinks is the best one.

I guess I'd put "They Died With Their Boots On" in first place, with "Moby Dick" and "The Roots of Heaven" close behind. Although I think my favorite Morgan/Stromberg recording is probably one they did for RCA Red Seal, Steiner's "The Adventures of Mark Twain." Of course, I have a greater financial investment ($40) in that one . . .

Thanks for the kind comments. As far as my favorites, gosh that is hard, if not impossible. All the scores we have rerecorded are favorites of mine in the musical sense.

It took us many trips and CDs to get the sound just so and correct. That was the biggest hurdle. Boy, would Bill and I love to go back and rerecord some of our earlier work.

I think we hit our stride in sound and performance with Steiner's THEY DIED WITH THEIR BOOTS ON. And every CD from that point on, I have no qualms with at all.

As I stated, they are all my personal favorites, but as far as standouts as far as recording and performance I would say:
THEY DIED WITH THEIR BOOTS ON
SON OF KONG-The MOST DANGEROUS GAME
    OBJECTIVE. BURMA!
    THE EGYPTIAN
    TREASURE OF SIERRA MADRE
    ROOTS OF HEAVEN-DAVID COPPERFIELD
    FIVE FINGERS-THE SNOWS OF KILIMANJAR
    The VICTOR YOUNG compilation

I didn't like the acoustics on the BMG disc, and hope someday to do a full CD for ADVENTURES OF MARK TWAIN, as well as THE CHARGE OF THE LIGHT BRIGADE.

I have a great sentimental feel for our first two Moscow recordings...HOUSE OF FRANKENSTEIN and THE WOLF MAN Cds. It was scary, but so much fun doing these. I just love those Universal films and their music.

I also take great pride in some of the reconstruction-orchestration I did. These are the ones I needed to orchestrate from conductor books or the composers' original sketches

    I'm mighty proud of:
    KING KONG
SON OF KONG-THE MOST DANGEROUS GAME
The Universal horror stuff (3 albums in all)
    THE ROY WEBB CD
    GULLIVER'S TRAVELS, THE UNINVITED (Young)
    THE LODGER (Friedhofer)
    CAPTAIN BLOOD (Korngold)

I think Bill STromberg did great jobs on his reconstructing...SCARAMOUCHE, BEAU GESTE are standouts.

And I recently relistened to our ANOTHER DAWN (Korngold) and was amazed at how good it sounded for being one of our earlier recordings.

Have to go with the Captain Blood album. Not only is the performance of Blood incredible and worth having even if you have the original recording (and not only because of the great sound in Berlin's Jesus Christ Church), but you also get three other great suites on the same album.

This album should be a great way to start a Golden Age collection.

    [whines and cries like baby:]
    I only have five...
    [/whines and cries like baby]

The rest are all on my want list, though.

But of those five, the one I like most, must be El Tesoro de la Sierra Madre.

    Then comes The Egyptian.

Then Son of Frankenstein/The Invisible Man Returns/The Wolf Man.

Then Ghost of Frankenstein/Son of Dracula/Black Friday/Man Made Monster/Sherlock Holmes and the Voice of Terror

    Finally, Rebecca.

This is like trying to choose a favorite child. For music mine would have to be MOBY DICK. For performance and recording a tie between SIERRA MADRE, OBJECTIVE BURMA, MOST DANGEROUS, and ROOTS OF HEAVEN.

I've really enjoyed all the Marco titles I've gotten so far... MOBY DICK, BURMA, SIERRA MADRE, and THE EGYPTIAN being my favorites. I'm also eagerly looking forward to hearing KILIMANJARO and, in particular, FIVE FINGERS, a truly fantastic film score!

I can't believe no one has mentioned MY favorite Marco Polo release, "Rebecca" by F.Waxman. A beautiful masterpiece.
