I absolutely adore Bulworth. Only two tracks, but each one is very long. Track #1 is one of my all-time favorite melodies.

Getting into and discovering Morricone is an entire ballgame unto itself. If you collect music as I do (a two-fold nature.... 1, for the music itself, wishing to extend my personal experience with the music whether it was first heard in a movie, television, wherever... and 2, for discovering music I like that I've not heard before, be it old or new in this temporal space), you will approach Morricone with great enthusiasm -- in a sense, in the same way you would approach a newly-discovered mountain of diamonds surrounded by an icky moat. The moat represents Morricone's disappointing scores.... we'll eventually fall into the moat at one point and/or another, whether it be falling off the diamond mountain after enjoying many a great Morricone score or initially thrashing through as you head towards the good stuff. Either way, you'll be in the moat more than once, but the majority of your time will be spent among the sparkles. Good God. What's this all mean? My point is to forget about what anyone suggests. Morricone has written such an enormous amount of music, what anyone person has to say about the Maestro's music may come nowhere near your personal preferences. If you want to put some zest into your collecting, approach this monster of movie music as you would a great solo adventure - go at it alone for the best rewards. Eh, kinda defeats the purpose of having a community of like-minded people share with one another, but what the hell. Morricone is in a league all by himself, so be it! The Mission is my favorite and 2 Mules for Sister comes in 2nd on my all time list so far (plus i have some of the westerns etc) but there are a bunch of italian movie scores at the cd store just wanted some hints (duck you sucker sounds like a must buy) But I really do want to avoid that Moat as much as possible... I aprreciate Mission to Mars and The Thing but dont seem to me to be must haves for me... can wait on used copies for those Peter you are good at this: i read on another site he wrote a great score for "tis a pity she's a whore" i dont know italian title is this score available?
thanks

One thing that intrigues me is how much Morricone music is out there that none of us on these boards have heard, the mans back catalog is enormous, easily dwarfing that of Jerry Goldsmith...I bet there are some real gems out there we have never heard!Easy to get recent(ish) releases include MISSION TO MARS (which is brilliant...ain't that so Andre ), VATEL, LOLITA, THE GOOD THE BAD AND THE UGLY which has been expanded and should be in the collection of any good Doctor , EXORCIST II is my favourite recent purchase. I liked your analogy Pete, as someone who loves Morricone's music that was spot on! p.s. Am I the ONLY person around these parts to have actually seen Il Maestro live in concert?!

PeterK is right.Morricone is a gamble. Sometimes you don't know what you'll get, but the odds are that it's something great. The only addition to my Morricone collection which I was completely disappointed with was "Alzati Spia," which was actually pretty thematic, but still not very enjoyable. NP: Debney's "Cats and Dogs"

Excellent recommendation, Wedge! Bulworth is a wonderful score, and yeah - that first track is awesome! In fact, I was listening to it just yesterday. I highly recommend it. Jeron

The score is almost totally buried in the film. A small section of the second track is hidden underneath a rap song, but the first track gets a little more exposure (if memory serves, especially towards the end of the film.)

Morricone's score is barely used, but when the theme first shows its head at the climax of the movie, it makes a great impact.Wonderful theme. A close cousin to the love theme of Legend of 1900.

You have got to be kidding about "EXORCIST II". I forgot to list THIS score on another thread on this board, as one of the scores that REALLY SUCKS, BIG TIME!!! It is without a doubt, Morricone's WORST ever. NP: Par les rues et par les chemins...Debussy
