I heard from a friend that there is a possible score release being talked about. I don't know how much of this is confirmed so I'm asking anyone that knows more about it, if this is legit. Not getting my hopes up though

That would rate at least an 8 on the kickassometer.

I'm fairly positive there wasn't even close to 66 minutes of score in the film...

Umm, there's only like 40 minutes of score in the movie. 66 is a rather large number compared to 40. And 40 is the max amount of minutes.

Yeah, perhaps the talk about Dreamworks releasing this score during the home video scheduled release is true.

I think it was me that started this rumor because I heard it from one else and mentioned it to a few people. Actually there is about 42-43 min of score (so, what else do you think I did when I saw the movie for the 2nd and 3rd times huh?)

I have e mailed DreamWorks Records on this matter and am waiting for a reply, when and if one comes, I'll let you all know.

I also had an idea, why not someone start an online petition?

I'll admit that "Shrek," both film and score, did nothing for me, but if Powell's somewhat bland "Rat Race" score can see a score release, then it would only be fair that his more orchestral and thematic work for "Shrek" see one also, as it is the better of the two, I think.

The film was great (I felt like watching a film version of a LucasArts adventure game), but I think the music sounded a bit too Media Venture-y for my tastes. Of course, it's hard to tell since it was drowned by gratituous (and bad) songs all the time.

Dreamworks pulls off some of the ballsiest **** this side of town. How come Antz and Chicken Run got their score released even though Shrek made more money then both of them combined? Whats with the arrogance Dreamworks ???? WHY MUST YOU TORTURE US?????

Shrek outselling Chicken Run? I doubt that. I'm sure Chicken Run sold well, because many people went to see the film (which is one of the best film's I've ever seen BTW). I'm sure the Shrek CD is selling well, since many people went to see this film, too.

But: Who will now buy a Shrek score album if it comes out? Film score fans. The others will be content with the song album they already have. The Chicken Run album had boths songs and score, so I don't think an all-score "follow up" album for Shrek would outsell CR:1 now that many have bought the song album.

That's what I was trying to say. Chicken Run has just the two songs heard in the film, the rest is all score.

    Hi,

I thought Chicken Run was a much better film than Shrek, but I think Shrek has a MUCH MUCH better score than Chicken Run. Same composers though, I guess I just didn't really care for the score for C. Run even though I thought it was a very fine film..MUCH finer than Shrek. This is only my opinion.

I got an idea..... all who will buy the Shrek score album if it is released say "I"

Films don't get much better than Chicken Run. Neither do scores.
