From the looks of it, Milan seems to be reissuing it in October. However, I was wondering if anyone knows if it will have anything extra than the original release? In any case, I have been wanting this score for a couple years. Good news either way!
Here's hoping Balto can be released again as well!

Yeah. With the missing music instead of two almost identical versions a rather average song.

Does James Horner use the same song for all the funeral scenes he has to write? Anyways, I used to have this score until someone stole it... peices of crap... I really liked track 3. I got mine at a thrift store.Clayton

This score was a lot better before Apollo 13 came out and just about rendered it a pointless listen. The Perfect Storm also rehashed some of this material. Anyway, it was a much better score before it became Apollo 13. Not to say that it's better than the Apollo score, but it was a much easier listen before I had to decide between 2 scores to hear which version of the same cue I liked better.

What a minute Shaun you forgetting that Ransom completely rehashes this score to the tee. In fact Track 3 from Clear And Present is completely in tact in that cue that Mel Gibson is following the kidnappers instructions. And this score is pretty much taking it's cues from Sneakers and Pelican Brief, which were completely original until they were rehashed to death. Ah well..so much for originality.

I've heard most of Horner's scores, however I have never took a listen to Clear and Present Danger. If it's anything like Ransom, though, I'll stay far away.NP: Sixth Sense (Newton-Howard)

Clear and Present Danger opens with one of Horner's nicest pieces ever, an extended cue underscoring the boarding of a hijacked yacht by the Coast Guard and the discovery of its murdered owners, then the opening scene as the politicos meet to decide what to do about it. Unfortunately, Horner stopped writing at that point, went out for a sandwich or something, and spent the rest of the evening snatching pieces of this and that and pasting them together so he could be finished with the score before Letterman came on. I bought the disc on the strength of that opening sequence, but there's nothing else to hear!

I'm not saying that Clear and Present is bad. It's a hellaofbetter score than Ransom will be. Get Clear and Present I recommend it and the Ambush piece is definetly one of Horner's best set pieces in the 90's.

Well I can say one thing about Clear and Present Danger, it sure is better than Patriot Games. How many agree on that?Np: The Mummy Returns (Alan Silvestri) **********/***** I love it! I love it!

I'll agree on the superiority of Clear And Present Danger over Patriot Games, both scores and films. But then I'm not much of a fan of Irish-flavoured music, and the film of Patriot Games was woeful rubbish anyway....NP: THE THING (Ennio Morricone)

Dang, I actually prefer some of the action music in Patriot Games to that of Clear And Present Danger ("Attempt On The Royals" hasn't been rehashed time and time again, which leads me to believe this was ghosted).I didn't forget about Ransom, but Apollo 13's ripoff of Clear And Present Danger came first.

Right on Shaun! You're right about that. Actually come to thinking about it, Patriot Games does have some original action music, but when it comes to themes and melodies, Clear and Present has the edge on that one. Too bad the movie wasn't released in 1993 it would've been one the best scores from that year, but it's up there for 1994.

Oh well, I am looking forward to it!
From the price listed at CDNOW, $11.49 IIRC, it is most likely just a reissue. Seeing that I have been wanting this for awhile now, I really don't care how much it is a Horner rip-off in any case.

BTW, does anyone know if Milan will be reissuing other titles? There are sure a lot that need this treatment as well IMO. Since, too many of their titles go OOP way to quickly.

Yeah, Milan's been doing this for a while. Witness Grand Canyon and Backdraft, just to name two of the big ones.Shaun

Myself, I am hoping for reissues of Hard Rain, The Phantom, Shadow of the Wolf and The Deep End of the Ocean, among others. I actually own these. Though, think they are worthwhile scores that deserve to be on the market. Doh!
The problem I have with Milan in most cases like those is they seemed to be available for a year or two and that's it. Most likely, if it was anyone else that had released those scores they would still be in print at this point.

Anyway, so what do you all want to see get reissued?

You did see the film, right?

My point being, it is shame they are not that easy to find for the most part. Since, there are plenty who are probably still looking for them!

Oh I definetly agree with you Dan, that was a brilliant choice by Young to use Toots Thelemans on Hard Rain because it gave the score alot more of an edge than your typical bombastic scores. And remember Clayton where the movie takes place, in the Midwest so the harmonica goes perfectly with the setting.
